About this listen

A belated honeymoon turns into a busman’s holiday when gardas Siobhán and Macdara Flannery find themselves investigating a dead body found in a fish and chips shop . . .

Siobhán’s brother Eoin’s new family restaurant, The O’Sullivan Six, is so close to opening—but waiting on the necessary permits plus the heat of July in the village of Kilbane in County Cork is driving everyone a bit mad. Macdara Flannery comes to the rescue with a plan—take a holiday by the sea and stuff themselves with fish and chips to support the struggling business of the aptly named Mrs. Chipper.

But when they arrive, a crowd is gathered in front of the closed shop: a local fisherman with a fresh cod delivery, a food critic, Mrs. Chipper’s ex-husband who’s opening a competing fish and chips shop directly across the street, and a repairman to fix the vent for the deep fryer. With Siobhán and Macdara as witnesses, a local handyman gets the locked door open, only to find the proprietor lying dead and covered in flour at the base of a ladder, its rungs coated in slippery fat. Clearly this was not an accidental tragedy . . .

Even as the local garda take over the murder investigation, Siobhán and Macdara can’t help themselves from placing their long-delayed honeymoon on hold—at least until they can help apprehend an elusive killer.

Good story line

The plot took enough turns to keep you guessing. it was nice to follow the O'Sullivan 6 as they matured.

Such good writing and the reader is the best there is!

This is one of my very favorite series of books and Caroline Lennon reads it in such a way you feel as though you are there!

I love these Irish murder books!

the writing keeps you on your toes even though about halfway or thereof you figure out who the killer is, but such fun to see how it all comes together! The narration is that brought me to the first book as She has a lovely voice and her accent and the descriptions make me yearn to visit Ireland. I highly recommend these books!

Loved it

There was a lot going on and I found myself on the edge of my seat whilst I was listening. Looking forward to reading and listening to more books in the series. It is not often that I don"t guess the murderer so this was a pleasant result. The clues and storyline held me captive from the first chapter.

The narrator Caroline Lennon did justice to the story and her voice is easy to listen to. Well done Carlene O'Connor a great story.

One of the better ones

Sometimes when you read a series of books, the later ones aren't nearly as good as the earlier ones, but not so with this mystery. A good amount of plot twists and suspense, and I liked that it took place outside of Kilbane. Narrator excellent, as usual!

Such Fun!

I’ve enjoyed every book in this series. I love hanging out with the O’Sullivans in Ireland. Sadly, I devoured this book in one day and will have to wait again for the next book. At least I know it’s more than likely worth the wait, as each has been so enjoyable.
