About this listen

There’s been a murder in studio one, and everyone’s a suspect. Recorded live at the Minetta Lane Theatre, a dozen Today and NBC News anchors take center stage in this hilarious radio play. First released in 1941, Murder in Studio One is a whodunit following a female private eye and her fast-talking sidekick as they reluctantly take the case of a murder in a New York radio station. Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb lead an all-star NBC News cast in the comedic mystery produced in partnership with Audible. Dateline’s Keith Morrison lends his iconic voice as the narrator. Written by Norman Corwin, Murder in Studio One has been adapted with permission from the Norman Corwin Administrative Trust.

Today show cast great but story line just ok

Great characters but I was not a great story line. Maybe if I seen it versus listened.

Mediocre story

The actors were very good, but the storyline confused me to a most severe degree.

Give me a break

A high school senior play starring all the teacher`s pets like Meathead and Gloria. Why 2 stars? Because that is a lot more than I could bear to endure but I know it required a lot of prep time to put together. How did I even download this? I hope it was an audible free-bee.

Entertaining

I’m sure this was a fun project for the Today Show cast, The plot was a little bit far fetched and confusing but it was fun to hear the morning hosts get into character.

A fun radio drama, full of suspense and style

I enjoyed all the different characters' voices!
The "tinny " piano added wonderful texture to the performance.

Great news people, not great actors

I watch the Today show every morning and was excited to listen to this performance. Unfortunately, while the cast is great at reporting the news, they’re not so great acting out a script. If I had watched the show live, it may have made more sense, but with the accents and the talking over each other, I just couldn’t follow the story. I couldn’t even finish it-15 minutes in and I was done. Sorry Today show cast, I still love you and I’ll keep watching the Today show!

This is just a showcase for the cast of Today/NBC

If you really enjoy Today and NBC and like the personalities on the shows you will like this live show. As someone who doesn't know them well or particularly care to match their voices with the names this is not much of a story. It was just written to make sure everyone had a part and sound acting is not what they do for a living. I was disappointed because I thought it looked clever but at least it was short.

Inchoate but cute

Starts weird, but stick with it, the ending will have you smiling. The performances are a bit over the top, a little restraint and straighter playing might have helped because the writing would support a straight delivery, but the fun is infectious.

Written in 1941

1941. That explains it all. The actors did a pretty good job with not much to work with. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and move the story along when it was suddenly over.
