About this listen

Women Talking: An Evening of Wild Female Imagination features three new works from playwrights Sandra Delgado, ruth tang, and Brittany Allen. Inspired by the film and its themes, the playwrights explored the choice the women need to make as a community: Do nothing. Stay and fight. Leave.

Just what I needed to hear!

Eloquent, thought-provoking, and an imaginative invitation to reflect and create more within and with each other.

After the book

Marvelous! The singing of “I want to hold your hand” was so special. And the last performance was particularly moving.

Man bashing????

Do we really need to make women stronger by making all men to blame? I have been married 40 years and I guess come from a different time, but women are certainly as capable to do what they want to in this world.

Thought provoking

While this isn't the book Women Talking, nor a telling of the film, but a lovely addition to them that I truly enjoyed.

I haven’t seen the film so I was a little lost but the performances were wonderful. Really well done and thoughtful.

A story that needs to be heard

Thank you for such a wonderful production. I share this vision and create new ways in my small business to view and participate in this humanity that is woman. I have a business where the roles and rules are fluid. It is evolutionary because it evolves as new lives enter our environment with changing or different needs. Please keep Sharing so we can collectively keep growing.

Excellent insights into the Mind of the Gay Community

Knowing about the release of Sarah Polley’s Film, I mistakenly thought this was a Theatrical dramatization of the Book upon which it was based. Instead, it is a dramatic reading of three playlets inspired by the movie.

I almost abandoned this book right then but that would have been a mistake. The three playwrights have created three beautiful works based on the themes of the film, updating them into moments of their own lives or at least of moments and challenges faced by members of the Gay Community. This brings the Reader into a World and Worldview that I for one had almost never experienced.

The words and atmosphere that were evoked by the talented actresses brought to life the dilemmas, questions, and decisions that these Women face every day as they try to navigate “normal life” in a Society not of their making, nor one designed for their chosen lifestyle. The production and the resulting brief Q&A with the playwrights and Sarah Polley provided insights into the feelings of the members of this Community struggling for recognition and change. They see themselves as fighting for a Utopia driven by the principles of a Society far different than the Patriarchy they’re currently living in. And they’re trying to decide whether to stay and be silent, stay and fight, or (somehow) leave. Just like the Women in the film.

Five Stars for the Reality it exposes and the productions it created. Now I’ll read the book that inspired the Movie and this beautiful work. *****
