Publisher's summary

Dallas: He's the one that got away. But, Banks Weston is more than just the man who got away. I let him go. He'd been ready to share with the world his true self, living life openly. He's loud and proud. It's all the many things I'm not. It took me a while, but I did it - everyone knows I'm gay. I want him back. My betrayal broke his heart. No - I obliterated it. But somehow, our paths cross again, and we have a reason to come together and pretend we're something we're not. Though in my heart, I'll always hope for the second chance I don't deserve.

Banks: I both hate him and love him all at the same time. His arrogant smirk, the way he rakes his hands through his hair when he's nervous, and how he lightens any situation with his humor - are just a few things I miss about Dallas Phillips. I won't let him suck me in again by his charming nature. My guard is up. I'm standing firm. That is until we find a reason to be together. We'll have to fake it, showing the whole world that we're a couple. Then again, it won't be hard because my heart has never stopped loving him.

Contains mature themes.

What You Do For Love

There were so many heartbreaking and dramatic moments in the story. Dallas really messed up but sometimes I felt like Banks was being harder than he had to be. But I really love how this story finally worked out. I listened to the audio copy and really enjoyed it.

The connection the characters shared.

This book really tugs at the heart and will make you wish the author continued on banks and Dallas.

I was a bit stressed at the end

There wasn’t even a proper forgiveness scene it was strange. But anyway it was a bit more stressful than I expected with the police being needed etc. i can see the books getting more intense as the series goes on i guess so I’ll just stop the series here. Loved the first book though

This should be named Another chance for love.

I thought that the characters were likable and well developed. It made me feel good to know that their love and life was once again realized.

The subject and the way it was handled

I've fallen in love with this series. This one wrecked me though. Get used to that ache in your chest for the majority of the ride. It's brutal. But the ending is worth it.

Skip if you don’t want spoilers

Okay. Writing and plot were good. Narration was excellent. I enjoyed the story and will continue on to the 3rd book. However…. MC1 Dallas and MC2 Barns are incredibly toxic. I really hope that no young impressionable gay men read this book. The author needs to do better research about Gay sex. MC1 is basically a doormat and de facto thirsty bottom and MC2 is a de facto toxic Top for 95% percent of the book. They have rough painful and emotionless sex every night for approximately a year…. 365 nights of rough, angry, painful sex. MC1 is a complete silent submissive to MC2 who is an angry, toxic uncaring top. This just gets old and gross fast. It takes a lot of preparation (sometimes 24 hours) for a professional porn actor to prepare for a rough scene. Afterwards it can take them 3-7 days of recovery. So nightly poundings is absurd and misleading. The damage and “pain” MC1 experiences would be unbearable. The internal damage would get infected. Just gross. The anus is not a vagina. So after reading about a dozen repeat scenes of this I was exhausted. MC2 doesn’t forgive MC1 until the last chapter. If you like doormat characters with very unrealistic sex and very toxic unrepentant behavior , you’ll enjoy this. Also, the 5 y/o from book one spoke like she was developmentally delayed but the 6 y/o in this book speaks better than an adult, This book had so much potential up until 50%. After that it was just a repeat cycle of toxic abuse, unrealistic sex, and foster kid stuff. Hope book 3 doesn’t repeat the same doormat format. Thank you.

Laughs, tears, angst

I really enjoyed this book. Crush and Ryan was really good too but this book just had it all. Also, it had a Sally. This girl was the best!! Her brother Jonah was amazing how he took such care of her when he was just a child himself. Then, Dallas and Banks comes in to save the day. They had a lot to work on with themselves and then take care of two children that needed so much love. There were a lot of laugh out loud moments, but also tear filled moments too. It all worked out in the end and it was a very happy ever after end that you should read or listen to. The narrators were amazing, I love the country twang from both of them.

Heartbreak revisited

A lovely story about family, freedom, love, and forgiveness.

Football and country music thrown in too.

I enjoy the couples from the previous book being included in this one.

No apology!!!

The story was good. Loved the first book more and could have love the second but at the end Banks treated Dallas wrong. Yes, he made a huge mistake but was making up for it. I guess at the end I felt like Banks should have acknowledged that with his actions he also hurt Dallas and deserved an apology and not just throw it under the rug.

It could of been better

I loved the story line and what the couple does for 2 kids. However one of the characters stayed angry and resistant pretty much to the end. It got old. I found myself speeding up the book to get past his crap. Which was too bad because it really was a good story and great narration.
