About this listen

As a romance novelist, I'm facing my worst nightmare - writer's block. No matter what I write, I hit delete, knowing it's not worth publishing. The future of my career rests on the success of this new book.

So, here I am, looking at Tumblr, desperate for inspiration, when I hear a thumping. Annoyed by the music blaring through the walls, I barge into the hall and bang on my neighbor's door.

My very hot, very naughty neighbor, Jake Morreau.

Jake is romantic, charming, and the bane of my existence. I need to work, yet he refuses to let me. When he greets me in the hallway, ideas of a sinfully hot hero come to mind. When he takes me out on the town, the words flow as soon as I come home. The more time I spend with this entertaining and quick-witted man, the more I'm able to write.

My neighbor is my muse, and before I know it, I slowly become the heroine of my own story, but I don't know how to end it. As I write the epilogue, I'm afraid our romance won't pan out as I've written.

Jake Morreau is my hero. Then again, in my life, heroes don't exist.

Contains mature themes.

While overall I did enjoy this book, there were some spots that were kind of slow. Also, Laci's character was annoying at times.

Good story!

This story was so different than the “young CEO” and similar plots. Such a good read!

Realistic story line

Hero is a just what you need, if you are tired of the overly macho, domineering love interests. Supporting characters are well-written. Nice twist to the romance genre. If you are looking for shutting, you won't find it here. I was rooting for the couple the entire time. No massive tragedy or need for a military save, no one was kidnapped, and still a HEA. Take a chance. In terms of narration, the male narrator was not used much; however, the female narrator produced a good male voice.

Not The Typical Alpha Male

Jake & Lacey: Lacey is a romance author currently going through writers block and on a deadline. She lives vicariously through her books. Her neighbor Jake is sexy as all get out but seems to be a playboy. When she knocks on his door to get him to lower his music and he finds out she's a writer, he goes on a mission to help her get out more and unknowingly becomes her muse. She never expected to fall in love. A cute romantic comedy. Jake is a book boyfriend unicorn because OMG, so romantic. Loved this book.

sexy and cute

Female narrator narrates most of this book and she is very robotic almost sounds like virtual voice. it's tolerable, but really takes away from the story at times. Ends in HEA, has third act breakup, has 2 or 3 spicy scenes. Cute story, but there is a good amount of boring filler. Overall it's cute, sweet and an easy listen, but if it wasn't included in the plus catalog I probably would have been slightly upset to spend a credit on it.

Mostly Robotic Narrator

I thoroughly enjoyed the story! I’m looking forward to reading more of your love stories.

This book had me until Jake drops the L word 3 days into dating and gets all pissed off that she won’t say it back. In real life, that would be one hell of a red flag.

Narrator lacked inflection and humanity.

Seriously?

Narration sounded like a robot at times. Slow moving storyline. Could not finish this story actually listened to far loner than I should have.

I didn’t like Lacey’s narrator I felt like she sounded too much like a robot but Jake’s narrator was wonderful and had a sexy , sultry voice when it finally got to his POV like 3/4 of the way through the book lol. Overall the story is fine but Lacey really pissed me off cause it’s like he’s literally been putting in effort and showing you that he loves you and cares about you not just telling you but you wanna be oblivious to literally everything good in front of you and act like you had no idea he loved you -.- ain’t no way. I feel like Jake deserved better🤷🏼‍♀️

Meh could’ve been better imo

I feel somehow cheated that the male narrator read during only one chapter, especially when that was really the only interesting chapter of the book. The female reader had a kind of chipmunk voice that was difficult for me to listen to, but I could have lived with that. It was just that the story wasn’t very appealing. It lacked conflict and didn’t have much in the line of original humor. I made myself finish the book, but I was glad when it was through. and oh yeah, the steamy parts really weren’t all that steamy.

Male narrator reads only one chapter
