About this listen

When a serial killer leaves a string of victims with political ties, it sends Texas Ranger Faith McClellan into a desperate race to save lives - even the ones she’s not sure deserve saving.

While on special assignment to the bank fraud unit, Texas Ranger Faith McClellan accidentally stumbles upon a raging fire consuming the back of a nearby house. When partially cremated remains are pulled from the ruins, she finds herself back on homicide - and on the trail of a ruthless killer.

As she races to identify the victims, the sadistic murderer strikes again - this time against state politicians with ties to Faith’s father, a former governor of Texas. Faith is forced to face shocking and long-buried family secrets as she questions her confidence in the justice system - and those she thinks she knows best.

Soon, Faith and her colleagues realize they’re hunting a killer with a personal vendetta, whose ferocious methods of murder are punishment for unimaginable sins of the past.

Everyone is a suspect. The pressure is on. Now, Faith must piece together clues from the ashes...before her whole life goes up in flames.

I have been trying to like this series

I have now forced myself through the third book in this series, and it did take me all three books to realize that it's not just Nichelle Clark that I miss, it's that I can't stand the narration. Sorry for the harsh words but I literally can't stand her voice. Additionally, the Nichelle Clark series is more fun, this seems forced.

A decent book

The plot was ok but it wasn’t suspenseful in my opinion. I wish audio books would have both a female and male reader. The female voice was great but the way she “attempted” to sound like a male was terrible. This book was free. If I had paid for it I would feel like I wasted my money.

So many twists I fell off the boat

These books fly by — so many twists and turns…whodunnit? By the end I was so confused… The characters are all so similar that I only have a vague idea of what happened really. 3/4 if the way I figured out whodunnit because I knew that this author’s signature is villains who have been victimized. So that’s making the book kind of predictable. Still, I’ve gotten through 2 days of cleaning and driving with this book as a distraction.

Another nail biter!

Another great score for this Faith McClellan book! This time, as Faith and team look for answers in some horrific deaths, the answers lie close to home. Great nail biter!! Can’t wait for book 4!

Narrator moans. Couldn’t listen.

Couldn’t get past the first chapter. The narrator punctuated each sentence with a little grunt/moan (groan??).

Audio isn’t pleasing

The reading of this sounds like a computer.
It is so difficult to listen to.

No Sin Unpunished

I couldn't stand how the ranger kept saying how wonderful she was at every thing. Sounded like an insecure man.
