Publisher's summary

Often Wrong, Never in Doubt is an inspirational book from one of America's most colorful and exciting entrepreneurs. Donny Deutsch lays out the core principles that propelled him to create tremendous wealth, build a huge and influential business, and become a national personality. Using inside stories of the media, the advertising industry, and a youth spent growing up on the streets of New York, Donny gives the commonsense bottom line that he has learned along the way, broken down into real, relevant, and inspiring lessons that will be useful to everyone from the front-line sales person to the middle manager to the successful corporate executive.

Under Donny Deutsch leadership as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Deutsch Inc., the company has grown into the nation's premier cutting-edge advertising agency. Donny recently launched a hip and irreverent CNBC talk show, "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch", which examines issues in pop culture, business, politics, the arts, and sports. He is also Managing Partner of the independent film production company Deutsch Open City. In presidential politics he was a lead member of the successful Clinton/Gore communications team. A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Donny now serves on two prestigious boards: UPenn School of Social Work's Executive Committee and the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation's Board of Directors.

Deutsch is cool!

Having only first heard of Deutsch from the Apprentice last year, then his CNBC show shortly after, I found myself wanting to hear more about how he got started. The book is very good for anyone interested in hearing what Deutsch has to say. He's smart, creative and innovative. The reader does a great job - sounds just like Donny. Basically, he goes into his life in some detail, how he got started, his first big account, things he did wrong, his philosophy for doing things a certain way. I'd say it was inspiring somewhat. Not overwhelmingly inspiring, he doesn't give you tips on how to be successful or anything like that - just his way of doing things and his outlook on life.

He is a Liberal, But Darn Good Book!!

Donny Deutch is a fascinating individual who gives readers a keen insight into how he built and managed an advertising empire! He is an outspoken liberal but is strangely enough a strong capitalist!

Great Story and decent amount of practical advice

He thinks he's a stud, we get it, had help from his dad blah blah etc. Who CARES through...his advice is still advice and the story is still very interesting.

Would you allow your ego to keep you from reading a great book just because the authors ego is bigger than yours? If yes then your a hypocrite.

Wish there was more advertising and marking advice even though there is a pretty good amount in the middle of the book. Whether his dad helped him or not he still does all the creatives for the businesses that hire his agency, so he knows a thing or two. Definitely worth the $10 bucks or whatever.

The reader also is pretty good at reading it like he wrote the book, so that helps keep your attention.

could have been

Donny Deutsch has a wonderful story to tell and for the most part does a good job except for the foul language. The crude language was not necessary and takes away from any inspiration that could have been communicated. I am a fan of great people and leaders. Donny's insecurities illustrate that he is not one of them.

So Simplist6

Spoon fred. Did something but things he really did something. Easy to excel when you're coming from spoiled land. Read Snowball to understand what it means to take an early belief and multiply it. Entirely different scenario.
