About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Gena Showalter, Shannon K. Butcher, Jessica Andersen, and Deidre Knight present a steamy collection of all-new novellas featuring sexy paranormal hunters. With shadowy creatures, intoxicating magic, vividly imagined worlds, and sizzling passion, this is an anthology no fan of paranormal romance will want to miss.

In Showalter's "Ever Night", Rose Pascal is swept into a dark, haunting world every year on her birthday---a world ruled by a warrior king who hunts her kind. Neither of them can deny the passion that soon consumes them both. In Butcher's "The Collector", demon hunter Neal Etan sets out to acquire a powerful artifact but finds much more in beautiful Viviana Rowan. The antique dealer's touch strengthens his magic---and her life may be in Neal's hands if they don't recover the artifact in time. In Andersen's "Crystal Skull", archaeologist Natalie Albright's dig gets shut down amid rumors that she has awakened the local demons. But when the terrifying underworld creatures attack, Natalie must team up with her ex to survive. As they fight the ancient menace, they discover a destiny that binds them together---and threatens to tear them apart. And in Knight's "Red Angel", Jamie Angel, leader of the deadly Nightshades, has tracked every kind of monster and demon that roams the darkness, but none of his experiences can prepare him for falling in love with one of the creatures he's been trained to destroy.

Enjoy it...

I really enjoyed Gena Showalter and Shannon Butcher, Jessica Anderson was OK but I didn't care for Deidre Knight her didn't fit with the others very much.

The first two books were a nice break on the Sci-Fi/Romance, the love scenes were sexy but not trashy, the narrators were OK the one for S.B. has a hard time doing female voices but wasn't bad enough I couldn't deal with it.

If you are in need for good sexy sci/fi then this is a really good distraction from series novels.

3 out of 4 are good

BOOK REVIEW....
I found all the stories in this collection to be really good except Red Angel by Deidre Knight. Red Angel was awful. The story stupid and the narrator terrible.

NARRATOR REVIEW.....
The narrators were all good except the one that narrated Red Angel. She was awful.

Spectacular Stories!

Aawww! The stories wet yummy until the final one with Jamie. Both the storyline and the voices for Jamie and Dummy were wonky and clumsy. Sorry but I just did not care for it.

Thoroughly irritated

Impossible to review or enjoy a book which has two of the presentations truncated. The Butcher and Andersen portions download incomplete. How about a 50% refund?

Romance with UF window dressing - big batch of meh

Four novellas about finding love while demon hunting. The men are manly men and the women can’t help themselves… cue the instant lust, Os, and declarations of luv. Oh, and cue the eyeroll.
These weren’t terrible; these also weren’t good enough to look for more stories by the authors.

They had the feeling of being B Team stories, as if these were concepts that never really worked for a full length series, but these authors spackled them together for this collection. There’s no Table of Contents, however the authors and narrators are identified at the very beginning.

Ch1 - Evernight by Gena Showalter, narrated by Hilary Huber (3.5 hrs)
This had the best world building, even with the nonsensical idea of special humans that get transported once a year on their birthday to a world always in darkness. How does a world of ever-night support life? Why are humans transported? Why those particular humans? Why is King Vasilli human while his brother Gregory is monstrous? It’s clearly not about the fantasy … just focus on his royal broodiness,
his declarations of “mine,” and what amounted to love after three “dates” spaced a year apart.
This author’s thing for caveman MMCs and their young, submissive but frisky FMCs is hard at work here.

Ch11 - The Collector by Shannon K Butcher, narrated by Todd McLaren (3 hrs)
The narration made Neal sound like an old man as he creepily counts his blessings to have found Viviana, a young woman with a prim hair bun who will keep him from going feral as he fights demons.
How grateful is he for her sexy bun? So grateful. Did I mention how much he likes her sexy hair bun?

Ch20 - Crystal Skull by Jessica Andersen, narrated by Coleen Mario (2.5 hrs)
A hell gate and lots of redshirt demons to fight … what better place for an oblivious woman and
her ex to reconnect? I would have liked more build up and descriptions for the demons and the magic.

Ch27 - Red Angel by Deidre Knight, narrated by Emily Durante (3.5 hrs)
This one felt YA campy as Jamie, he of the Southern accent and frat boy flirty-ness,
woos Sunny, she of the centuries old guardians who nonetheless talks and acts like a teenager.
This one was all saccharine squee and no urban fantasy demon hunting. Need proof?

“I’m your love tutor, and you are an outstanding pupil, my sunbeam!”
Urp
“I’m your great big pussy cat.”
“That makes me your catnip.”
Double Urp.
