Curtis "Launchpad" Larkin's career as an astronaut has had its share of ups and downs.
Alternately lauded as the single-handed savior of NASA and condemned as a reckless, hot-headed bully, Curt has been through the wringer of public opinion and come out on top. When he embarks on his final mission with NASA, Curt figures there's no curveball that life has left to throw him.
But when the role of spacecraft communicator is passed to a young engineer back in Houston who he's never met, Curt's mission takes on a new trajectory.
Patrick Harte's life is turned upside down when he's called to fill in at mission control, working directly under his hero, Curtis Larkin.
Falling for Curt is just a small step for Patrick - but it's one giant leap to think that the astronaut could ever return his feelings.
After Curt connects with Patrick from worlds away, he can't imagine life on earth without the other man...Despite the fact that he's never laid eyes on Patrick. And their problems won't stop once he's cleared for landing.
The bad-boy astronaut is no stranger to controversy - but will the genuine and soft-spoken man of his dreams be able to keep up with the trouble Curt seems to stir everywhere he goes?

A slow burn that’s literally out of this world
"Featuring a cast of characters both on this planet and out among the stars, this contemporary love story is filled with so many cool space facts and NASA tidbits. While the mission in this story starts with some tension between a new CAPCOM and this celebrity astronaut, the couple quickly develops a phenomenal banter and chemistry. And since the two are always thousands of miles (and an entire world) apart, it is one of the slowest and most exhilarating slow burns of all time."

I absolutely loved this story. The build up of the romance was wonderful. The dialogue between the two MC’s is so well written. The way the author weaves the past and present together is also superb. All around, this is just a great book.
Definitely a slow burn...but so worth it.
Wow

The story is sweet but appropriately dramatic and realistic. the tech jargon is accurate and the plays on names of real people are amusing. it's not too fast or too slow, and has just enough carrot to keep you wanting to finish. definitely recommend.

I enjoyed the story immensely. Liked the aeronautical details that seemed realistic enough. Good character development. Though the romance part took a while developing, that was consistent with the story.
With all the time changes, articles and historical interviews, it was a bit hard to listen to. I had to rewind several times to get the details of which time period the story was in. Likely wouldn't have happened if I were reading it instead of listening.
Better to read than listen

Audiobook reader was fantastic and his voices for the male leads were lovely and made me want to hug them. His work with the women in this book was also so wonderful. Often men reading in women’s voices sound almost condescending but this was not the case. They were full of life and power.
Loved loved loved this book.
