About this listen

While the world carries on unawares, Stryker, who leads an army of demons and vampires, is plotting an all out onslaught against his enemies—which, unfortunately for us, includes the entire human race. To avenge his sister, Stryker prepares to annihilate the Dark-Hunters. But things go awry when his oldest enemy returns. Enter his ex-wife. Zephyra. Just when he thought nothing could stop him, he's now embroiled in a centuries old war with a shrew who gives new meaning to pain.

Critic reviews

"This series puts a contemporary spin on classical mythology...irresistible." (Publishers Weekly)

“A new twist on the gods of mythology, ONE SILENT NIGHT continues the saga of the conflict between gods and men. Never skipping a beat, mega-talented Sherrilyn Kenyon creates a fast moving plot that doesn't stop and with characters that stretch the imagination. An incredible read.” —Single Titles

“Brisk, ironic, sexy, and relentlessly imaginative.” —Boston Globe

I love all of her books! I've been re'reading' them through audiobooks. I loved the first two narrators, but I couldn't get over how different and unappealing his voices were from the previous narrator.

he makes the woman sound like men and the men sound like old men struggling to breathe.

I'm hoping the next book has a different narrator!

Not a fan of the Narrator

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The book itself was good. Have heard better from the series.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator is why I gave a 3 for overall. I had a really hard time with the voices he used for different characters.

Could you see One Silent Night being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

3 Because of Narrator

I usually do not write reviews, but I feel I have to for this book. As a fan of the Dark Hunters series, and in anticipation of the new book release, I decided to listen to the whole series as a refresher to get reacquainted with the characters, story lines and sub plots. Having read the books and had the characters come to life in my imagination, I started listening knowing that performances by the narrators would not be the same as what I think they would sound like; ie accents, tone and attitude. So, I take the performances with a grain of salt. And at the risk of sounding judgemental, I was sorely disappointed with this book. Actually, I'm almost offended. I realize that this is my opinion, and that others may have enjoyed the performance. But, I was truly unhappy listening to this. Being one of the shorter books in the series, it took me forever to get through this book. The characters were reduced to whiney, sniveling characters. The narrator managed to make the female characters sound more manly than the males. And if not that, they were reduced to some sort of "valley girl" type character. This is only my opinion. But had I not already read the books and been such a big fan, and been knew to the series and if I had listened to this one first......I would not have listened to anymore in the series. And that would have been extremely sad. A down right shame......

So disappointed......

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Nothing in the book

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love Acheron as always

Would you be willing to try another one of Scott Brick’s performances?

I have listened to the Pendragon series narrated by him. Its a better series for him to narrate. I do not like the way he did this one it is awful.

Do you think One Silent Night needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There already is

Any additional comments?

Keep consistent narrators please and not! Scott Brick.

Do not like the narrator

I loved these Dark Hunter books, but frankly, I can barely stand to listen to this one. I just can't stomach the narration. I have never said this before about an audio selection and am usually pretty easy to please when it comes to narrater if I like the story, but he bugs me so much it is ruining the story. I am going to read this one myself and abandon listening.

worst narration ever

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I love the series and this was the first book I can truly say " I just endured" the narrator made me feel like he was reading to children. The changes in his voice were childlike. The story was not one of my favorites.

Would you recommend One Silent Night to your friends? Why or why not?

I would only recommend this if you read it, don't listen to the audio version. The narrator takes away from the experience.

Would you be willing to try another one of Scott Brick’s performances?

No

Was One Silent Night worth the listening time?

No
