About this listen

Two brothers learn of the apocalypse after being out of touch for a few days. Returning to town, they learn first-hand, the dead are coming back to life with a taste for flesh. With their parents in Nebraska they must embark on a journey to rescue them as they set into motion their zombie apocalypse plan. But they'll see not all is fun and games as they realize it is nothing like they imagined it would be. Can they make it in time to save their parents from a fate worse than death?

Emmett Wolfe has been preparing for this day for years, but still cannot believe it is happening. An infection unlike any other has begun to spread across America and the world as he knows it is coming to an end. He must rescue his daughter and ex-wife and transport them to a safe location.

But nowhere is safe anymore....

Toooooooo much

I had a hard time sticking with the story. Why so many details and descriptions of the weapons and gear being worn…..it’s too much and definitely overkill. I cringed each time, every freaking time. The brothers weren’t likable and things went to hell in like 3 days in this apocalypse. The timeline wasn’t believable. The banter was bad, like really bad.

A little sappy

This seemed like a teen book. Not bad but a underdeveloped. Good for a zombie fix.

Average..in a good way

Just a rub of the mill Zombie story. I liked the characters even though they were a bit stereotypical. This gave me my zombie fix until the next great one comes about.

Narration was above average. Was able to distinguish between characters.

A zompoc worth the listen/read

Short in comparison to others but has a good steady flow of action and character building. It kept me engaged enough to finish but I am hoping things pick up a bit more in the next title.

Good book

This is a pretty good book. It seems to be leading in the direction of a come back your faith kinda deal. But it's not too preachy. It may even be "this is the beginning of Revelations" They mention the first trial being a plague a couple of times. oh and the people are definitely worse than the zombies. So, it's a different take on zombie books.

Expecting more

Moved slow and predictable. If you are new to the zombie genre you will really like it. Otherwise just so-so.

Lacks professional writing skills and poor story telling.

First, the conversations between the brothers are awkward and unnatural. Every other word is “brother”. Siblings don’t talk like this; it’s a weird dynamic.

Overly religious, I get that the author is a “Jesus freak,” but it’s a bit over the top in the story. Besides, if a god allows such atrocities does he deserve any attention while you struggle to survive? Where is the love in that?

The story is overly simplistic; it spends too much time on obscure details and not enough time building the story. Characters are subpar at best. At no point during this book did I feel a connection to any of the characters which is a sign of a lacking storyline.

The narrator is the only redeeming quality in this book. I was hopeful but left disappointed. The author has potential but needs to take some classes to develop a better writing style.
