Solid advice for personal improvement!

Would you consider the audio edition of Outperform the Norm to be better than the print version?

Yes--and I loved the print version! I knew the content was solid and helpful in building healthier habits and high performance, but I found the audio especially handy. The chapters are generally short, but there's some variance here, so if you've got this on a mobile device, you can pick which chapter(s) fit the length of your commute that day, or even get several chapters in if you're out for a run or something. You can really fit the book into your free time because many parts can be read/listened independently of each other--you can "skip around" a little bit and still find the individual chapters very helpful even if you take them out of sequence.

Listening to Welle, I can see why he's a motivational speaker and a trainer! Very well-read, especially when using personal examples (peaks and valleys) from his own life--you can hear that there's a healthier road ahead!

What other book might you compare Outperform the Norm to and why?

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey springs to mind, because they both combine different sorts of advice for problem-solving and improvement that apply to very different areas of our lives. There are resonances with Tony Robbins' stuff too.

Have you listened to any of Scott Welle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, nor seen him speak--I had only read his books until now.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Turn off autopilot and rise above!

Any additional comments?

Great (audio)book, full of signs of hope! Thanks!

SHOOT ME NOW

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I stupidly glanced at the high reviews and didn't realize there were only 6. I made it about 25% in to the book and simply could not take anymore. Where to start, the material is regurgitated and seems almost plagiarized from countless other books, and this is the books best part. THE NARRATOR / AUTHOR - holy crap - I've listened to countless audio books and some have wonderful narrators while others have average ones, so I know I can typically expect one or the other. But this one...this one needs a whole new category of horrendous.

Here are the painful narrator issues in order of their intolerability:

1. LAUGHTER - There's a forced giggle / laugh EVERY OTHER SENTENCE - Why? WTF are you laughing about? He literally does this small forced laugh at the end of practically every sentence, why, I don't f'ing know. (I've pulled the gun out and loaded the cartridge)

2. INFLECTION - This one really gets me, you ever watch the local news? Their newscasters have this overly dramatic undulating tone to make the stories sound more interesting. Well, brace yourself, one again, EVERY OTHER SENTENCE has this tone.. up and down, up and down...(BANG! - yes, these 2 MAJOR flaws alone justify offing one self)

What was most disappointing about Scott Welle’s story?

Narration = ATROCIOUS
Same recycled material from countless OTHER authors.

How could the performance have been better?

If the book was never made and subsequently never narrated.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Outperform the Norm?

Don't ever narrate / author another book.
