About this listen

The Sacred Kingdom has enjoyed a great many years without war thanks to a colossal wall constructed after a historic tragedy. They understand best how fragile peace can be. When the terrible demon Jaldabaoth takes to the field at the head of a united army of monstrous tribes, the Sacred Kingdom’s leaders know their defenses are not enough. With the very existence of the country at stake, the pious have no choice but to seek help wherever they can get it, even if it means breaking taboo and parlaying with the undead king of the Nation of Darkness!

Amazing, as always.

As always, Chris G. did an amazing job with the story, the voices and everything else. There could literally be nobody better to read this story than him, very well done.

It ended too soon!

It's almost a side story, but it's still great. It's a necessary book that sets up the following. But still, it is great on its own.

One of most favorite series

Love this story, world, character building , and plot! It nice to see that Demiurge gets some of the spotlight.

the painful weight of expectation

the section of ainz lamenting hit far too close to home. I had quite sometime sadly laughing at my misery through the reflection of him.

Fantastic as always

Hard to complain about this addition to the saga. The VA is top tier, the story is exactly what I'd expect from Overlord, and it all feels right.

One of the best arcs in Overlord

What an incredible volume. The story really takes an interesting turn by having Ainz’ POV take a backseat and following Neia instead. We get to see Ainz from a different perspective and how he is perceived by those outside Nazarik. Neia is very awkward in an almost charming way, so following her perspective has been endearing. While it is cathartic to see Ainz use his overwhelming power to save people in the Sacred Kingdom, we also know it is all part of a nefarious plan, so there’s always a sense of unease.

Chris Guerrero’s vocal range really shines this volume. As always he does a fantastic job portraying the Supreme One, Ainz Ooal Gown, but that shouldn’t sell short the other characters. Some standouts this volume were also Neia, Remedios, Demiurge, and King Buser. Scenes with Remedios were particularly harrowing, with the weight of her emotional outcries.

This arc plays Overlord to all its strengths, so I’m very excited to see its conclusion next volume.
