About this listen

The fate of the galaxy is in his hands.

Cade Korbin is playing for keeps this time. If he doesn’t find a way to eliminate Nadine Zabelle once and for all, she will be the death of him and everyone he cares about. Armed with a suit of armor from the long-dead Priors, a mysterious sample of sentient and self-replicating nano bots, he accidentally discovers what killed the Priors - Omnipotence.

But Nadine isn’t an easy woman to reach, and she’s determined to break Cade along the way.

Meanwhile, the galaxy itself is under threat from a savage swarm of replicating machines, and a fight over the alien Gateway that was built to keep the swarm in check is fast drawing the galaxy into a violent war that could end billions of lives.

But the shocking truth of what lies beyond the Gateway could spell the end for everyone else. Ultimately, Cade will have to choose between using his newfound power to save the people who matter most to him, or saving the innocent multitudes who will die if he doesn’t intervene.

Have you ever been so excited to listen to a book?

I loved this book! I listen to so much military sci-fi that it’s difficult to get excited about a book, like I once did. While this story isn’t redefining sci-fi, it’s fresh, energetic, and thrilling. We can’t predict what is going to happen next, and I love that. There are unexpected elements in this story that keep you surprised, which makes this a unique experience and avoids the common mistake of making you feel like you’re listening to previous books in the series.

The main character is a badass, while definitely fallible. Cade (protagonist) makes small mistakes or decisions that have massive implications down the line. Regardless, he has a “code” or ethos and his other characteristics makes you root for him. Through his decisions, shines his redeeming characteristics. I am rooting for him and Vera and only a little bit wanting him to verbally light up Rama, and put her in her place. I highly encourage this book and hope Jasper T, Scott continues to write more.

Pros: great universe building! The author paints a clear picture of the universe for the readers. I see so many potential spin-offs for the expanded universe. I really don’t need to say this, but Luke Daniels killed it! He is my second favorite narrator. He has an amazing talent of breathing life into the characters. I only tried this book because I’m a fan of him and I’ve never read Jasper T. Scott books. I could go on and on…

Cons: I really don’t have many, but if I had to say something I would say, Luke Daniels could work a little harder on female voices. I mean only so much he can do and not that big of an issue. The action was turned down a little more in this book. Not that I mind, but I can see how some might be frustrated. Don’t worry, still plenty of ass kicking!

Last note, we briefly see the Master Chief from book two and her squad of Pálidan’s. I can’t help but think Scott is setting up a spin-off. I would love to follow them in a series!

Highly recommended for sci-fi lovers!

Best in the series

Honestly this book put a smile on my face. Great story that tied up some loose ends from book 2. The whole reason why Nadine wanted Cade to go down to Nexus was to rescue his wife so she could kill her. Now is there's two Cade's? 1 presents and 1 past? I don't think that was made clear. Besides that I loved the story with a satisfying ending. Ramah is annoying and a scumbag. I was hoping when Cade had the choice to save one it would have been Verra. Oh well, great trilogy and I can't until Omega Protocol is released.

Luke does a wonderful job as always, but

Overall I really liked the story and I only have one issue that drove me nuts for most of the book. Cade's constant over thinking, re thinking and questioning his decisions made me want to hit the skip button all the time!

Each New Book in the Series Keeps Getting Better

Just as my title states, each new book in the series just keeps getting better. Scott does a fabulous job in this book of bending the the mind with the perils and merits of time travel.

Cade zips around the galaxy trying to exact revenge and clean up bad guys as he goes. It's a fun read.

It's also a fun listen. Luke Daniels has a great variety of voices, and he knows how to make them funny to menacing.
