About this listen

Deep in the Arizona desert live a girl and her dad, burying secrets - and bodies.

Mesa Kingston's first memory of burying a corpse was at eight years old. Back then it had been the carcass of a large lizard her dad found that they buried in the backyard of their isolated cottage. At age 14, the body of a young lady accompanied the reptile's remains, and ever since, an accumulation of female bodies began to grow. Now, the only way Mesa can stop the haunting screams of the dead is by drowning them out with flames. Or is there more to the blaze than even she can perceive?

The Loss of Innocence

This story was heartbreaking I just wanted to hold Mesa and tell her that she was ok and it was not her fault. Due to traumatic issues that stem from her childhood Mesa slowly spirals downward into an abyss of self blame. Warning this book does have a trigger ending. I know I will never look a jigsaw puzzles the same way again. I can only recommend this book if you are not bothered by triggers of abuse. Angel Clark does a magnificent job at narrating this book. I received this book from Audiobooks Unleashed and this is my honest unbiased review.

Amazing

Loving the aspect of the story from a suppressed memory point of view. However a strong reality check. Makes you just want to hug Mesa an hold her an tell her everything will be alright. This story had me hooked from first word. So sad it was just a short story lol. Yet it just shows how talented the Author is. Thank you for sharing this amazing story.

A good short story

This story was short but packed a punch. It is told from the perspective of the daughter, Mesa. Warning - there is a graphic twist towards the end. It was a story that will never have me looking at a puzzle piece the same way again. A good short read.

Disturbing...

At first I enjoyed the story. Seemed well-written. But as it went further on, it became gut-wrenching. I cannot recommend this audiobook to anyone but the most hardcore fans of Angel Clark. She was the only long-term saving grace of that ordeal.

Put The Torch OUT

Story about a strange relationship between a daughter & her father after her mother leaves them both. Their secrets they share at the getaway cottage & the burden the daughter tried to clear away by admitting guilt. The ending kind of just sits there, leaving you hanging.

Narrator wasn't to bad at all, but she did have a tendency to have her mouth to close to the microphone. You can hear her breath in the microphone from certain letters, such as words that have the letter P in them.

No, I can't recommend this story.
Sure, I can recommend the narrator.
