Publisher's summary

Secret treasures and otherworldly dangers await a band of adventurers in the second book of this fantasy series set within the Arcane Ascension universe.

After the Tortoise Spire climb claims three members of Team Guiding Star Legacy, surviving combat experts Nieve and Hane—teammates by chance if not by choice—cope with their losses by joining another delving group to ascend Tiger Spire. Allied with bickering siblings Rose and Mason, an Architect and a Transmuter, and the Biomancer Lief, they’re led by Odette, an Analyst, who has meticulously studied the spire’s scenarios to locate the mythical Vault of Shadows and claim its priceless treasures.

Their quest takes them aboard a train transporting rare cargo, but their mission is vague. Odette believes they’re either supposed to protect the cargo or capture someone. As the team splits into factions to solve the mystery, they encounter the notorious thief known as the Magpie. Sa’rhi Nereux is a Controller, commanding powerful minions to help them steal a creature capable of granting life or death with a single bite.

Even if the adventurers are victorious, greater threats await them within the spire if they’re to unearth the Vault of Shadows. Nieve, still grieving her lost companions, wants to befriend her new team to face these threats together. But Hane prefers distance, even from Nieve, leaving her to bond instead with a being of unimaginable power...

Boring

Unlike the other books in the Arcane Ascension series, these are BORING! Too much description, little action and, though I want to like the books, I just don't.

WOW!!!

I wouldn’t miss any book written by Andrew Rowe, but this one is one of my favorites so far. It started off a bit slow, but what a finish! I won’t give anything away, but the twist at the end was worth it. Please keep this series going - I love it!

the growth

From the first book to this I feel like it got better not saying the first was bad. I hope the growth continues or at least it's doesn't take a dive because I really enjoy these characters.

good book

I'm all for LGBT+ but asking the pronouns of someone before a fight to the death is silly to the extreme.

Really good , can’t wait for next one

The visceral pain that was caused in the ending of the last book has been slowly reduced in this book, almost like you’re the experiencing what the characters feel.

The plot was great , I just get like it dragged on at parts , though that’s just my impatient brain. I wish there was more plot per book but hey maybe that’s just good book series design.

Engaging and entertaining!

Another excellent addition to this universe. I really enjoy the gender neutral character, and the same-sex love interests. I’m already wishing for the next installment!

Good but pushing the limits

These books are great, but the Author needs to stay out of current affairs. We listen to these books to escape reality not to live in the same crap of reality!

Fantastic Part 2 - must read

This is becoming my favorite series in the universe! I love these characters and the heart ache they go through. First half was a perfect blend of adventure and much needed back story! Would have liked to be there for Sage’s trial but hey his time is in the next book and the Nieve and Hane arch was a cool one. Not the two characters you thought would give some good dialogue but their relationship is so awesome to see! Definitely cool to get emotion out of characters you thought were robots. And Chime!! We get to see more of their personality, interesting one but when you think about it, makes sense! Great story, will read again for sure. Don’t listen to the readers talking about the pace and lack of action. They’re mouth breathers with no patient or IQ

Another outstanding listen by Andrew Rowe

I have yet to read/listen to anything I didn't love by Andrew Rowe. Phantom Chamber builds off its predecessor well and includes mysteries small and larger that make pausing the listen almost impossible.

These books always end too soon

Great story as usual. I vote we lock the author in a basement like a snake and make him churn out stories at least daily.
