Publisher's summary

A magical new paranormal women's fiction series from USA Today best-selling author Amy Cissell, author of the Eleanor Morgan novels and the Oracle Bay series.

Being a single mother has its challenges, but Evie had never imagined that “the talk” would involve Ouija boards and pentagrams.

Evelyn Addams had settled into a comfortable but unexciting life as a single mother in small-town Eden Valley. The gossip had died down, and her daughter, Liliana, was gearing up for her 10th birthday and getting more independent by the day. She had everything she needed. A great kid, fantastic friends, and a decent job. She was 43, fabulous, and didn’t need a man to complete her.

But between Evie’s sudden-onset accidental supernatural shoplifting and catching her daughter trying to summon a demon to grant three wishes, Evie knows that not only has she neglected some aspects of Lily’s mythological education, but that her façades of strength and normalcy aren’t as firm as she’d thought. Why else would Lily ask a demon to make her mother happy and bring back the father she never knew?

After a series of strange phenomena pop up around town, Luc, her summer fling from almost 11 years ago, walks back into their lives just in time for Lily’s 10th birthday party. Life’s about to get way more interesting than any woman in her 40s wants as Evie is forced to reevaluate everything she thought she wanted. Can she let go of the past and take another chance on the man she fell for more than a decade ago? And will she be able to accept the side effects that come with raising a demon’s daughter?

Loved the story

While the story itself was great, I couldn’t connect with the narrator. I’ll read book 2 the old fashioned way.

Stilted and Robotic

This is an absolutely fantastic story and a wonderful series that's why it saddens me deeply to say that the narrator didn't do it any justice. From the beginning her narrative sounded stilted and became worse with Luke's Voice and Evie's Father. Luke sounded robotic and Evie's Father wasn't as bad but still in the robot range

Amazing second chance PWF

I absolutely love Evies story. Lilly is amazing and the fact that she wants her mama's happiness so much. Great world building, interested in finding out more about the lake. the marks and what happens with the best friends.

A great start to this PWF series!

A great start to this paranormal women’s fiction series! It had everything I love about this genre… a middle-aged heroine with quirky friends ready to fight by her side, as they discover and navigate through a new, fascinating paranormal world. I enjoyed the twists about demons and hell, as the author kept the storyline light and humorous with an array of colorful side characters, keeping me engaged and entertained throughout the story. I look forward to reading more about Evie and her friends, the mysterious town of Eden Valley and the lake, as well as what becomes of her daughter, Lily and new demon family, and what other crazy paranormal events await for them. New-to-me narrator, Daniela Acitelli had a very pleasing and smooth delivery, but most of her adult female characters sounded the same, which at times got confusing when more than one was talking in dialogue. Her child voices were very lively, but the male voices seemed very drone-like. Still an enjoyable listening experience, I just had to concentrate a little more at times to follow which character was speaking.

This was an interesting, creative story with very likeable characters. I especially enjoyed the world building and the way the story unfolded in this unique world. It was well narrated in a way that really brought the story to life! I thoroughly enjoyed the supportive friendship that was part of the story throughout the book!
