About this listen

Can Lady Philippa Ware forgive the man who once shattered all her youthful dreams? Discover the passionate and heartwarming new novel on the redemptive power of love from New York Times bestselling author Mary Balogh.

Philippa, elder daughter of the Earl of Stratton, grew up eagerly anticipating a glittering debut and a brilliant marriage. Then her brother caught their father out in a clandestine affair and denounced him publicly. The whole family was disgraced, and Philippa's hopes grew dim, then were fully shattered when she overheard the dashing, handsome Marquess of Roath viciously insult her upon learning of her father's identity. Only years later does Philippa find the courage to go to London at last to meet the ton. She is an instant success and enjoys a close friendship with the granddaughter of a duke. Only one man can spoil everything for her, but surely he will not be in London this year.

The Duke of Wilby is nearing death and has tasked his grandson and heir, Lucas Arden, Marquess of Roath, with marrying and producing a son before it is too late. Lucas, who usually shuns London, goes there early in the Season in the hope of finding an eligible bride before his grandparents come and find one for him. He is instantly attracted to his sister's new friend, until that young lady asks a simple question: "Remember me?" And suddenly he does remember her, as well as the reason why the daughter of the Earl of Stratton is the one woman he can never marry—even if his heart tells him she is the only woman he wants.

Unfortunately for Philippa and Lucas, the autocratic duke and his duchess have other ideas and believe them to be perfect for each other. They will simply not take no for an answer. Telling Philippa the full truth is the hardest thing Lucas has ever faced, and the discovery of it will change them both before they discover the healing power of love.

Anger can harm the future

“Remember Me” (Ravenswood, Book2) by Mary Balogh narrated by Rosalyn Landor
A fun light yet for me an intensely emotional read that completely engaged my emotions.
I loved the story and the narrator’s telling of the story.

Loving this new series!

This new series does not disappoint. Love how Mary grounds us in the world of the Bedwyn’s with mentions of Morgan and other family. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Excellent

Began slow. But the saga continues and each character is developed with integrity. It is always escapist for me but I continue to enjoy a time away from reality. Sweet story.

Sweet Love Young & Old

Oh the pressures of being the heir! Whilst the grandparents want to exert their will on marrying off their grandson they can’t expect the bride of their choice to be willing, or can they.

Surprisingly good

At first I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this book. It seemed to drag on to the point of being too long. However, the length gave time to develop some side plots that were moving. I really appreciate Balogh addressing things like childbirth and death in this novel. She does an excellent job validating women and highlighting the importance of love beyond romantic.

Touching and Romantic

It takes a great love to last a lifetime. Can Lucas and Phillipa have it? An unintended hurt from their past leaves them at odds. Still, their attraction to each other and the well meaning interference of Luke’s grandparents show them there is a way to overcome anything for love and to find the kind that lasts a lifetime.
As always well written and this was is especially poignant. Strong family bonds through tough times. Well narrated.

Mary Balogh wins again

There is a slow and graceful cadence to her writing and to Rosalyn Landor’s narration. It may leave some readers impatient or even bored, but I think it is delightful because it allows the reader/listener to relish in the small but precious moments of life—the outing to see a new kite fly, boating on a calm stretch of river… I especially appreciate the surprise love story underneath it all. I won’t say more, so as to not spoil the delight for others.

Another Good One

I liked it, and gave it 5 stars. Usually I subtract at least one star if the bedroom door is not firmly closed, but although I did not care for the insertion of graphic sex details on the wedding night, it wasn't as gross or crass as is the choice of the majority of currently popular authors who typically include such private details, and when I re-read the story at a later time, that scene can be easily skipped over without the loss of any of the story.
