About this listen

No one has ever come back from beyond the veil ...

To Viggo, the veil was simply a landmark. Crossing it was considered suicide, and he'd never given much thought to what might lay beyond. Then, his life collapsed around him.
Ejected from the military academy that was to have marked the start of his career, disowned by his family, passed over by the gods themselves, Viggo's last chance lay beyond the veil.
Yet, from the very beginning, something was deeply troubling about the realm from whence the gods came. Its cities lay in ruins, its lands peopled by lunatics locked into tasks they could not escape. Even the natural laws were corrupted, and death itself had lost its grip.
Viggo's access to the strange, seemingly omnipotent system gave him new abilities and limitless potential. With a reincarnated goddess and a strange fox-woman for companions, Viggo quickly realized that to survive in this world would be easy: he was immortal. The hard part would be keeping his sanity.
The road he must travel will lead to conflict with champions and the gods they serve, but before that, he has to learn to live in a world that won't let him die.

Not for me, but not a bad book

its not bad, just slow. I started with book but couldn't get into it, got about half-way, then saw the audio with Daniel and gave it another try, while the performances were good and the story premise is also good, the pacing was definitely too slow for me and I usually listen on 1.35-1.45 speeds. there is a lot of development,

I am not 100 percent sure where the story is going, but I and darn sure I am happy to be along for the ride. New style of book for author, but it’s great. The audio is amazing. Buy it.

Interesting story angle and great performance!

Enjoyed the performance as well as the story direction! The flow of the narrators didn’t jump or change, they did a great job together.

My fantasy pet is my GF. It’s cute at times. Not for me though , I expected more , especially considering the other reviews before

Cebelius wrote a non-erotic fantasy novel

And it was pretty darned good. MC is a bit unlikable at the beginning, but he gets better.

Wanted it to be great.. fell flat. Meh

To start I loved the authors other book series Celestine chronicles.

The story is a slooooow burn. Back story and main character was good to start.

Where the story should have taken off it felt more like quicksand. MC went from intelligent smartass to overwhelmed by what happened and constant failure to strike with his weapons. Feels like it was meant to make him more like an everyday person. I feel like it backfired. He has nothing good going for him. No special traits, bonuses, extra stats, or implanted knowledge, basically if you swap the mc to any faceless npc you couldn’t see a difference. The MC to me is subpar. At some point the story begins to feel rushed while still not going anywhere. A wonder for sure.

I really wanted to like it but it was tuff feel anything but meh.

I hope the next book is different. Maybe it’s just the first one.

Where Is The Next book?!?

Solid story, character and world building as always. Bought most series done by Cebelius so I might be bias.

Interesting twist on the fantasy isekai genre
No Kink this time which is new but still a story you'll want to hear. Even if it is not as long as I would've like. I will get the next installment. Hopefully soon? Thanks! Keep up the good work.
