About this listen

Can a VR game get too real?

Eric McCaffrey is very good at VRMMORPGs; he's played most of them, but the lack of funds is starting to affect his ability to play popular games. It's time to move on to something more...obscure.

Battlegrounds Online is the only game of its kind. A VRMMOFPS. A military warfare game so realistic that it scares away most players daring enough to try it. Realistic in the combat but not in the setting, the game is based around a toy property from the 1980s—a property that Eric's grandfather was a fan of, passing that love down to Eric.

Now, as a soldier codenamed Zag, Eric gets to play in that near-future world full of colorful and insane terrorists. He gets to be one of the characters he heard his grandfather rave about.

But Eric will find that not all games are created equal. Some are more real. So real, they can affect you both in and out of the game.

Experience this high-adrenaline LitRPG/Lit-FPS adventure from the author behind Sky Realms Online. An action-packed thrill ride that puts you right in the crosshairs.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with a new audiobook with no reviews, as well as a Gamelit about a FPS game, but I really like it and am eagerly awaiting the next book! This is well written, has interesting characters, posits an interesting game world... and leaves some
Mysteries yet to solve. Great book!

Very good!

He Zags.

I really loved this book. Osgood continues to grow as an author. I’ve loved the Sky Realms books and this was even stronger. Neil Hellegers is dynamite.

While it is true, this book has no real antagonist and is just an experience playing a game. I find it refreshing, and something that I like to listen to on occasion as sometimes the same plot lines get old. This was a nice listen as there was no complicated chosen one character, so common in LitRPG's, and was just the view point of a new player and his adventure.

An Enjoyable Listen

This was a great start to what I hope continues to be an interesting and original series that keeps up with what was started here in both pace, progress and quality

Great start

Litrpg are a dime a dozen nowadays so it's really awesome when you listen to one that scratches an itch you didn't know you had. The FPS parts of the book are a lot of fun and I'm curious about how the game is changing the MC. When the next book comes out it's gonna be a day 1 buy.

A book I didn't know I needed.

honestly really liked this, as a kid I loved gi-joe so this hit right at home with me.
its mostly an action book not a lot (yet) world building but there is some and promise for more. the characters are fun though I hope we can explore them more a bit more downtime ect.
the rpg mechanics are light which I prefer general though these ones even lighter then normal though I think I see why.
honestly the only issue I had is well I thought the character sheet break down was spaced well enough, the decriptions of each skill was pretty much the same and could have been shorten I think or at least the parts about how failer is still possible ect.

over all though if you want a good gi-joe like action book pick this up.

a great book and a fantastic litrpg

the book is just a little slow leveling is slow narration was done well. there was no real bad guy or situation to motivate the MC.
