About this listen
Alex travels through a portal to a fantasy world in dire need of saving.
While the land is tainted with a curse against magic itself, slivers of its might seep through. Alex's Isekai comes with the special gift of Rune Magic. Rune magic is mostly gone, a vestige of its ancient power and if he unlocks some of his secrets, he may just restore balance. Of course, the odds are against him and the mysteries abound. Cerenis is not some cozy fantasy world. It's plagued by the Sudrel who are eager to kill someone like him.
But with the help of a few lovely ladies, he'll establish a base to grow his power. And not everything is about staying behind walls, because some of his potential allies will need a daring rescue.
Join Alex as he rises to power on Cerenis, coalescing a team around him to save the world.

Story
Growing up, she was the girl down the street. Even then, I knew she was different. She was tough, rough, and had the strength to stop a speeding car with her bare hands. We were as thick as thieves, sharing every adventure. Then one day she revealed a secret. She wasn't from Earth. She was from a distant place called the Arcadia Multiverse. Her people lived under the rule of a god-like entity known as the System. That System had its gaze fixed on Earth. And it was only a matter of time before it came for us.

I’ve always been a scrapper, so when I was snatched from my world by shadow creatures and hauled to another one, I did as I’d always done. I fought. But I still didn’t know anything about where I was. My luck was in, because I quickly had the good fortune of meeting a sexy prophetess and a gorgeous, blue-skinned, redheaded mage who said she was something called a moonwisp. Yeah, magic was a thing. The problem with that? Everyone in the world had some. Magic, that is. Everyone but me. I guess that’s what I get for coming from a non-magic world.

My life took a turn I never expected on the day the world ended. Suddenly forced to fight in a bloody arena by a faceless System, I find the only way to survive is to win. I’m told that ten victories in the arena will give me my freedom, but if I’m going to get there, I’ll need a crack team of hardened allies to fight with me. What I got instead was a bratty college girl with a jealousy streak, a momma’s boy roommate who now inhabits the body of a piglet, and a devastatingly gorgeous teacher whose sword is as sharp as her tongue.

I woke and found myself in an ancient temple—naked, alone and without any memory of my past. Even the name my status screen displays—"Valerian Hawkblade"—is unfamiliar to me. It's a good name. A champion's name. Fate joins me with a pair of adventurers searching the long abandoned temple. Nikita, a human warrior, and her friend Kazumi, an elven mage, are seeking a magic weapon to defeat Baron Skeg. I pledge my aid in their quest for vengeance and together we begin a journey of leveling up, winning treasure, and upgrading our gear.

Story
While the land is tainted with a curse against magic itself, slivers of its might seep through. Alex's Isekai comes with the special gift of Rune Magic. Rune magic is mostly gone, a vestige of its ancient power and if he unlocks some of his secrets, he may just restore balance. Of course, the odds are against him and the mysteries abound. Cerenis is not some cozy fantasy world. It's plagued by the Sudrel who are eager to kill someone like him.

Toby Adams saved the world once before. Now he must do it again. The catch? This world isn’t Earth. It’s Eclipsia, a fantasy realm Toby visited as a kid. And he’s having a bit of trouble remembering how he accomplished his world-saving mission the first time. Magic was involved, he’s sure of that. Powerful companions, too. Possibly even a magical weapon of some kind.

Chuck didn't expect to be retired by the time he was thirty. That was just how life had worked out. He'd had his fair share of adventures, put together a decent bankroll while working in the oil fields of northern Canada, and escaped with an injury that hadn't crippled him too badly. All he wants is to build a bit more money before buying himself a secluded cottage and deciding how to fulfill the rest of his life.

Yet everything I knew to be true in this world all changed drastically one fateful night... or should I say, it shifted. As it turns out, my father passed on more than his name to me. Something feral and mighty awoke within me, and I knew at once, I would never be the same again. I was kneeling on one knee, Terminator-style, like in that scene where he first arrives in 1984. Very much like that, actually. There were no flashes of lightning or anything like that. But there had been a lot of wind the moment before. Unlike a moment before, I wasn’t alone, and I wasn’t in my hotel room overlooking the ocean. Scattered around me were the bodies of twenty men. At the front of the large stone room were four more men, very much alive, and a woman screaming. Rushing at them, I reached them just as one of the men was about to strike the woman in the face. In that instant,...

Great story.
This is a great story and world.
It went by so quickly that I thought I missed something. It was just so good that time flew.
Not your typical HaremLit and power structure.
Book 1 leaves you with a lot of questions and a strong desire for the 2nd book now.
I'm giving this book 8.5 out of 5 stars.

Fun story
I thought the magics running through song a unique take. The world is in flux, and there are lots of things to do.
I look forward to the next book where we will hopefully see more machines and have the runic lord get better and stronger.

Ehhh , it’s started strong but could have been better
Likes:
Cool setup
World built is serviceable
Didn’t immediately have multiple chapters of backstory
Character descriptions
Dislikes:
Mc is lead around by his nose for the whole book.
He is not a strong lead.
Forgettable storyline after the beginning. Felt cut and dry.
The whole thing felt unconvincing.
Boarder line simp territory
Hope this helps a bit.

Boring, no idea whats going on
I have made it to about chapter 5 or chapter 6, so far this has been rough, the narration isnt very good, and the story isnt grabbing my attention. Maybe its because i am so used to duel narration these days that single voice actors just wont work for me, totally possible.
The story so far is blah, couldnt tell you anything about the MC or the world, very little character building or world building. What I do know about the MC is he is a grade A puss, he gets this Gem that opens a portal and he is all excited then he gets there and is nearly pissing in his pants wanting to go home.
I might return to this at a later date and give it another shot, but as of now, this one goes into the wasted Credit pile.
