Survive the arena. Choose a Battle Bride. Master the lost art of cultivation.
They called me a savage, then threw me into the their cruel arena.
Instead of bleeding out on the sand like they hoped, I used the power of my gifted core to rise.
When I learned my enemies held a cure for the spreading plight of infertility, I knew why my gods had sent me.
I am Dagon Haldorson, hunter and Hearthman of the northern shores of Enea.
I will grow in strength, form alliances, and win the hearts of gorgeous battle brides.
And by uncovering the lost secrets of cultivation, we may go one step further.
Together, we might change the world.
(This book contains graphic violence, adult themes, and unconventional relationships.)

The narrator does a great job, though the headspace voices doesn't match the spoken it's an easy ignore.
***Potential Spoiler below***
I loved the last fight, I feel like I'd been avenged. The decisiveness, the quickens, the fear, I loved it. Oh and the wife with the kitchen knife... priceless.
This one is worth the credit.

the story does start off kind of slow but the details just make you feel like you're there. I feel like I got to know so many of the characters and so much about their personalities. I don't feel like we get to know much about some of those who died but it didn't hurt the story any. I really like the world in which this takes place. I feel like it's a place where the strongest truly do hold most of the cards. I am really looking forward to listening to book two. not to spoil it for anyone else but I really really love hate endings that make me want to know more right now. if you like cultivation stories that not only please your violent tendencies but your carnal tendencies. I suggest everyone read this book.
phenomenal story and great narration.

The narrators are perfect as the technical standpoint goes. I believe about four words were not quite my opinion of the pronunciation, though considering the called for dialect this isn't a problem.
For the story, there are few fade to black moments, and when it is the author's style carries the story very well. Most intimate scenes are respectful, natural in this background and moderately passable if that is your liking with only relationships and a few plot movements being involved. For content I found it a pretty strong course, the few times interactions stumbled it felt designed for sake of a relatable cast. The balance of mortality and plot are good, more often crafted than filling.
You get a diverse cast, and while yes there are tons of heads popping up you do not lose the cast you need to know in the story. Endearingly woven together fates also, a trope yes but not a bad one. You can see a few things coming, though on a scale of a Coloring Book to a Murder Mystery for plot concealment and surprise I would say it does well on the Mystery side especially in a Fantasy setting.
Immersion and relatable win a nod, this story was exciting I found myself through the good length chapters to about chapter 17. They are short enough to enjoy progression with major ones building a bit more length so you know if you need to pause, though I am already planning for more books!
Enjoy!
