About this listen

“An epic reading experience.” (San Diego Union-Tribune)

Acclaimed, New York Times best-selling fantasist Raymond E. Feist gets his masterful Serpentwar Saga off to a spectacular start with Shadow of a Dark Queen. Feist’s classic epic fantasy adventure returns listeners to ever-imperiled Midkemia, a breathtaking, richly imagined realm of magic and intrigue, where two unlikely heroes must rally the forces of the land to stand firm against a malevolent race of monsters intent upon conquest and annihilation.

Locus magazine calls Shadow of a Dark Queen, “the place to start for those yet to discover Feist’s fantasy worlds.” For fans of Terry Goodkind, George R. R. Martin, and Terry Brooks - and for anyone not already in the thrall of this astonishing author’s literary magic - that is excellent advice indeed.

Having read the book numerous times, I was thrilled to listen to this book. The performance was well done, and ready to listen to the next.

One of my favorites

I read this book when I was a teenager and listening to it as an adult everything came alive once again

Got this book on a whim, and really enjoyed it, time to get the rest of the series. I hope it's as good.

Great read!

The book was fantastic but the narrator was terrible. Mr Joyce was not a good fit for this book. I had to speed it up I've never had to do that to any other book I've listened to but it needed to happen. The voices all sounded the same there was no difference save one voice and then he made him sound like a girl. There has to be a better Narrator out there like Nick Podehl or George Guidall just to name a couple. Fiest is one of my favorite authors and to hear like this sucks.

Great book. Terrible Narrator.

just the right amount of detail to enhance the overall story. Unforseen twists and turns in the story line ended up making this a completely different story from what I was expecting when I started out. Highly recommended.

Riveting!

This was a good listen. The narrator needs some polish, but I didn't find him as distracting as some reviewers. The author jumps the story around trying to keep the various characters involved and the reader up to date on all the action. He's not as smooth as Tolkien, but does well. Basically the story is engaging, well-developed, and worth the time. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Not exactly classic Sword & Sorcery

No disappointment. The storyline continues with all the adventure and excitement of the collection.

I loved the story. It starts like every other sword and fantasy book, but the personality of the characters and speech made me laugh at parts. the only complaint I have is that there was a lot of repetitive use of the word "said". I would suggest using other words in its place for a better read.

Great story, lots of repetitive words.

I was unsure of this when I listened to the sample however for the price of two for one…..
First chapter or two I wasn’t impressed but then I was at the end of the book finding myself saying wait a minute you can’t stop there! I will be following the rest of this series. The narrator does an excellent job of voice changes although he can be a little monotone with he said, she said…… overall it was worth the time spent!

Unexpected
