About this listen

From the popular sidekick on the Guinness World Record-breaking Adam Carolla Show comes this candid, comical, and uplifting memoir of the author's courageous battle and recovery.

At 30 years old Bryan Bishop’s life was right on track: as the sidekick on The Adam Carolla Show, his career was taking off and, newly engaged, his personal life was soaring to new heights. Then he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

Suddenly Bryan’s promising future was looking at a troubling schedule of radiation and chemotherapy. But having found refuge in comedy, "Bald Bryan" recounts his alternately heartbreaking and hysterical experience of cancer treatment and recovery, from writing his will with the bravado of a pulp novelist, to taking chemo in a strip club, to achieving his life-long dream of getting another woman in the shower with him and his wife (even if it was only for physical therapy). These and other charmingly twisted scenes make the serious truly a laughing matter. Now four years since his initial diagnosis, Bryan celebrates how his aggressive treatment shrunk his tumor and gave him a new lease on life.

Through odds and obstacles, blunders and dilemmas, Bryan radiates through his narrative with wonder and humor. This profound, honest, and surprisingly funny recovery audiobook is a Cancer Schmancer for the Jimmy Kimmel Live! crowd.

Length: 8 hours and 01 minutes.

Get this book if cancer impacts your life.

What did you love best about Shrinkage?

We also went through cancer treatment in 2009 and although our prognosis was not as bad as the Bishop's, we went through many of the same things. This book is for everyone but it must be read by people preparing for cancer treatment.

What about Bryan Bishop’s performance did you like?

It was very compelling when Bryan got emotional and Christie's contributions were great.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed and cried.

Very Engaging

Baldwin's story and delivery make for a very engaging and moving experience for the listener.

I will definitely look at getting future works from Baldwin. I just hope they don't involve more life threatening diseases.

Compelling story. Do another.

Inspiring story. Could not stop listening. I've listened to all of Adam Corolla's audiobooks and yours by far beat his. Did not think that was possible. Fan of the podcast and now hey good fan of yours. Your wife is a saint and this was a good love story. Everyone should hope their significant other would be as good in this situation as yours. Look forward to anymore books you may write.

Fight on!

Growing up in LA and following Adam Carolla & Jimmy Kimmel, knowimg Bryan has been 2nd nature. His story touched me in so many ways. As a Trojan I heard exactly what he was feeling at times. other times understood what my father was feeling. I also learned what I should do for a friend.
I thaught I was getting a book by a comedian but it was so much more. A book I didn't even know I was searching for.
He is wrong about the I-phone, though

This book will lift you up!

Loved that it is Bryan and Christie who narrated this book. The emotion of their situation is clearly on full display and is very powerful. Prepare to be broken down to a weeping mess....then reborn with hope, love, laughter and an appreciation for your own blessings. I am a huge fan of the podcast so I read this book right after it was released. It touched me deeply. Recently, I was also diagnosed with cancer as well. I've listened to it now for a 3rd time. Bryan's story and most of all his positive live your life to the fullest attitude is a huge inspiration to me. Thx Bryan.

Inspirational and Insightful

Love the window into the world of BB, and enjoyed it immensely. My great joy is that he's still around, and able to give voice to a struggle I can only fathom the challenge of enduring. Strength, Faith, and convictions forged in the love of those around him. May he have many more year's and books to his name...

My favorite audio book to date!

This was a beautiful memoir and highly recommend to anyone that is going through or has gone through chemo. Or, like me, you have a close family member that went through treatment. I
Empathized with bryan and Kristy in so many ways and this left me really remembering that I should not take life, health and the little things for granted. I loved it! Thank you!
