Publisher's summary

Full Metal Alchemist meets Vampire Diaries in this fun and clever dark academia series . . .

High school is supposed to be about studying, socializing, and marching-band practice. Not fighting vampires. Then one night flipped my world inside out—now, my life sucks. But it isn't all bad. I'm at a slayer academy, learning things like the real origin of vamps and how to make serious weapons out of thin air.

Every last one of them will pay for what they did. I'm doing great.

Until I come face-to-face with the actual vampire prince . . . and I'm not sure of anything anymore. Vampires are supposed to be soul-sucking demons. But Khamari is . . . something else. He's intelligent and reasonable-and he seems to know things about me that could change everything.

He's also hiding something big, even from his own kind. And when a threat from an ancient evil is so extreme that a vampire will team up with a slayer to take it down, it isn't just my need for revenge that's at stake anymore.

It's the whole damn world.

Angry lead character

The lead character was so annoying and angry from start to finish. Hopefully if there is a second book this will not be her main emotion.

Love the plot twists

The depth of the characters is impressive and makes me want a book delving into to each of their stories! The play between fantasy and reality is also engaging, I didn’t want to put it down.

good book

I enjoyed the book, but raven's character was very annoying to me at times. Very immature, hopefully in the next book she'll improve.

Great book

Overall great story a lot packed into the book that wasn’t all revealed. I waited a long time for this to come out on audiobooks. I bought the paperback but not a lot of time to sit down and read. The reader had a nice voice kept you inspired. I really like grandma Lou wish she had a bigger part.

The wait is over...

When this book first came out in August it wasn't on audible, yes I could've read it on other platforms for free, but when life gets hectic, I like to listen. It was definitely worth the wait and I can't wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds. A lot of "whoa didn't see that coming" moments.
