Publisher's summary

Sizzling Style is what distinguishes a spellbinding book from an ordinary one. The writer who understands the fundamentals of fictional writing style knows how to capture readers and never let them go. Too often aspiring writers are frustrated by rejection, not realizing that the problem is not the story but the way they are telling it. In this audiobook, best-selling author William Bernhardt brings his down-to-earth approach to the subject of style, revealing everything you need to know to write with the art and craft of a seasoned professional. Bernhardt goes beyond memorizing rules to a fresh approach, a philosophy of writing that will transform your work and take it to a higher level. Because as William Goldman famously said, "No one really knows what will be commercial, but everyone knows good writing from bad writing." The audiobook also includes exercises designed to help writers apply this approach to their own writing.

I hate this guy. He's an illusions smasher/master

Would you consider the audio edition of Sizzling Style to be better than the print version?

Bernhardt's spellbinding voice enlivens his masterful lessons for writers, and makes up for the sins of Language arts teachers every where.

What did you like best about this story?

I said I hate this guy. Because, each new Red Sneaker Series book that I read smashes the illusions I have as a writer, but it hones my writing. I have spent the past year reading How to books on novel writing only to pick up some bad habits, and cluttered confusion on the craft. Bernhardt's natural teaching style instructs, and empowers the developing writer's unique individual talent.

What about William Bernhardt’s performance did you like?

I have been able to understand the landscape of creative writing and many tools of the craft, the where in the geography, more important, when to employ the useful information I've gotten from the RSS other writers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When I realized that clarity is more important than fad, and sadly, that quick read sells faster than the verbose rookie stuff I currently write. Bernhardt's mentorship is priceless.

Any additional comments?

Now and again in history a cluster of genius appears, France's Impressionist, The Bauhaus and Italy's Renaissance. There is a cluster forming of writers in of all places Oklahoma. I wondered; What are they feeding these up and coming, and established writers. Well, I think they are learning craft from William Bernhardt.

Simple, Yet Invaluable

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book thus far in this Red Sneakers Writing series. Bernhardt's tips are stripped down to basic common sense. The ideas are instantly executable. This series is invaluable.

Excellent Guidance

One of the excellent attributes about the Red Sneaker series is the ease that all level of writers and critics will absorb the advice -- everyone will get something of their own out of this work. This collection is outstanding for becoming a better writer, in addition the collection is invaluable in helping critique novels you read/listen. In sizzling style, Bernhardt spends minutes identifying guidelines. This book is about how to eliminate the unwanted, sharpen, convince and convey. This is not a book about adjectives and jacking your writing using steroids. Ooops, violated a rule, "don't say what is not, shay what it is." As the author always says, there are no rules to writing -- but some come close. Take this advice to heart.

dashes

After listening it took me an hour to write 287 words. I read another book on writing that suggested 4000 words per hour (impossible for me to do).
I loved the change in my awareness of each word after listening to 'Sizzling Style'.

Missed this like a dangling participle

Sure wish I had found this two novels before. A true must read for aspiring and current writers. Bernhardt is the English and Creative Writing teacher that I never had.
