About this listen

She was commanded to kill him with a single strike to the heart. She didn't expect her own to betray her.

Sylina has sacrificed everything for her goddess—her soul, her freedom, her eyes. Life in service to the Arachessen, a cult of the Goddess of Fate, has turned Sylina from an orphaned street rat to a disciplined killer determined to overthrow Glaea's tyrannical king.

When a brutal vampire conqueror arrives on their shores, Sylina faces an even deadlier adversary. She's tasked with a crucial mission: infiltrate his army, earn his trust… and kill him.

Atrius is a terrifying warrior carving an unstoppable path through Glaea. Yet when Sylina becomes his seer, she glimpses a dark and shocking past—and a side of him that reminds her far too much of parts of herself she'd rather forget.

Sylina's orders are clear. The conqueror cannot live. But as the blood spilled by Glaea's tyrant king runs thicker, her connection with Atrius only grows stronger. A connection forbidden by her vows. A connection that could cost her everything.

Slaying the Vampire Conqueror is a standalone fantasy romance set in the Crowns of Nyaxia world, full of heart-wrenching forbidden romance, dark curses, and epic battles—perfect for fans of The Bridge Kingdom and the From Blood and Ash series. If you like forbidden romance, dark curses, bad*ss heroines, and morally gray heroes, you'll devour this sexy, addictive series.

Perfect standalone!

I love Carissa’s writing. Her world building and character arcs are so well crafted, not to mention her bad ass fmc. The narrator, Amanda, did an amazing job and I’ll gladly listen to any audiobook she narrates. Cant wait to see these characters again in the rest of the Nyaxia series 🥹

Wonderful listen!

I loved how this rounded out this world and simultaneously expanded its breadth. I am really curious now how many stories can be told and what elements could come together in the future (or past, there's plenty of prequel room here). Authentic emotions and quality fantasy with original, intriguing potential. Amazing payoff in a one-off story with its own HEA. a slow burn romance with no time for boredom full of unexpected twists and real adventures!

You'd be remiss to avoid the series, but this can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone story.

Amanda is a talented reader who exercises perfect pacing and tone throughout this series. This one has some - experimental accents that had some odd moments. But nothing that kept me from enjoying the work. The creative contribution of her effort still shines through!

Eye opening on many things

The blind believe that what we are thought is the truth . Perhaps questioning is not a bad thing.

Great writing! Great Performance!

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the FMC a lot and her story is well written. I would have liked a bit more romantic tension between her and the MMC but I still rooted for them to be together. The story had some interesting twists as well.

The world of Nyaxia is addictive!

Talk about heartwrenching love and sacrifice and breathtaking action! I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series (they are so compelling!) and have become a huge fan of Carissa Broadbent. I seriously hope there will be still more stories told in this world… whether they star Oraya and Raihn or Sylina and Atarius or any characters Broadbent brings to life. Amanda Leigh Cobb, by the way is perfection as a narrator!

🩸 🗡️ ⚡️ ♥️

My only 🤨 (not even deducting stars because the writing was still THAT good) is that the names and the details of the salt keep assassins was very very similar to Throne of Glass. But I’m honestly not even mad about it…if this was intentional, she used the inspiration and made it her own in such a unique way! 💜

Carissa Broadbent has done it AGAIN! This story was amazing! You DO NOT need to read the Serpent, Ashes, or SS Roses before reading this book as it is a standalone. It shared the same world but this would make 100% sense to a reader fresh into the world of Nyaxia.

I found this story so easy to read, the characters lovable, gray (on every side), easy to root for, and the shared connection these two had was remarkable to read. I loved how easy their love seemed…not quite love at first sight, but a there was definitely a deep appreciation and mutual respect from the get-go.

I loved the little touch of “too many?” throughout the book. 💜
