About this listen

All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention. But on this dazzling afternoon, one woman did catch the duke's eye - and she was the only female in the room who wasn't even trying.

Christine Derrick is intrigued by the handsome duke...all the more so when he invites her to become his mistress. What red-blooded woman wouldn't enjoy a tumble in the bedsheets with a consummate lover - with no strings and no questions asked. An infuriating lady with very definite views on men, morals, and marriage, Christine confounds Wulfric at every turn. Yet even as the lone wolf of the Bedwyn clan vows to seduce her any way he can, something strange and wonderful is happening. Now for a man who thought he'd never lose his heart, nothing less than love will do.

Contains mature themes.

Critic reviews

"With this series, Balogh has created a wonderfully romantic world of Regency culture and society. Readers will miss the honorable Bedwyns and their mates; ending the series with Wulfric's story is icing on the cake. Highly recommended." ( Library Journal)

Best book in the series

Any additional comments?

I loved it!!! In this book the Duke reminds me a great deal of Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. I liked the Duke character all through the books in this series and was glad to finally listen to a book about him. All the Duke's brother/sister/in laws from previous books are in this book too, but it still works as a stand alone book,

The female lead (Christine) got on my nerves a few times, I would rather see her as more refined, but I still liked her. I am in love with the Duke. He is a fantastic character. The story is told from both Christine's and the Duke's point of view, which gives a better feel for their characters and their thoughts. Nothing major happens because the story is about the relationship between Christine and the Duke growing from first sight of one another and forward to the end. Really a great story.

Rosalyn Landor never fail to perform superbly with this kind of romantic novel. I always adore Mary Balogh too.

The best one in the Slightly Series by Balogh.

Great ending to the Bedwyn family saga. Narrator excellent as usual. Each story in series is unique. Great read.

Simply delightful

Delightful! Delightful! Delightful! Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Perfect finale to the series with a little of everyone else and loads of the main man himself with the perfect lady for him! Simply lovely! Wish there was more...

Love Wulf, a little disappointed with the female lead

I love the the entire series and had already fallen in love with Wulf so obviously I was very biased going in but Christine did NOT seem good enough for Wulf. Still enjoyed the read but i wanted someone more interesting for Wulf. Christine just seemed clumsy and childish. I would’ve liked a stronger character like Eve was for Aiden - slightly married is still my favorite book of this series.

By far the best of the Bedwyn books.

I love the Duke’s character throughout the books. It’s lovely to get to see behind the mask. 🖤

How The Mighty Falls

The first and last books were my favorites. This goes to prove that opposites do attract. I love the fact that Katherine was her own person. I would have to rate the series, 5 plus stars. Loved them
