About this listen

Imagine being less stressed, more focused, and happier every day of your life. Start Here outlines a program designed to help you do just that by cross-training the skill of lifelong well-being.

If given the choice, we would all choose to be less stressed, to feel happier, and to experience a more optimal state of well-being. So why are these outcomes so hard to achieve? The answer is quite simple: No one has taught us how.

It turns out that just as you train your body for fitness, you can train your mind for well-being. We call this Life Cross Training (Life XT), and Start Here is the manual for anyone seeking to achieve emotional fitness. Combining ancient wisdom with modern neuroscience from the world's leading experts, Life XT is a groundbreaking training program to master the art of well-being. The program teaches practices proven to rewire the brain for increased focus, engagement, and resilience to stress. By offering specific practices, habits, and assessments to manage your training and by helping to build up core skills such as mindfulness, gratitude, and compassion, authors Eric Langshur and Nate Klemp lay out a thorough and sustainable program that anyone can integrate into their daily life.

With Start Here, you will feel less anxious, distracted, and overwhelmed and more focused; increase your productivity; feel a stronger sense of meaning and contribution; and build stronger relationships with family, friends, and coworkers. These are benefits we all seek and can all experience by cross-training with the scientifically validated practices presented in this book. Want to become less stressed, more emotionally fulfilled, and more in harmony with the world that surrounds you? Start here.

Actionable- easy to listen to. One of my fav

Love this book. Going to listen a second time immediately. It’s not a bunch of fluff. It’s so actionable. Ie. when u leave the house u can go into compassion mode.
Helps you realize that you have a set point of happiness and It can be changed.

This should be taught in schools

I don’t mean to our older children, This should be taught to our K-6 children. They would be so well prepared for life, not because they had a plan, but because they didn’t. Being the best versions of themselves and living now, rather than, Spending their days becoming someone or something so that then they may live.

Implement this in your life ASAP

Great content - a little monotone reading

I loved the content - a well-structured reminder for me for most of the content with additional key info relevant to and explaining my behavior during COVID. In this way, reading this book at this time is life-saving. I am starting today on implementation, and having practiced most of these practices previously, I know it will be successful and am curious what deeper learning I will discover.

The reading was a bit monotone and I wish they would have brought in different voices for the quotes or testimonials of other people.

boring narration and self entitled ideas.

meditation is great but some of the supposed problems are not real world problems like putting food on the table and deciding which bills to pay. and telling people who have a standing all day job that standing all day is bad for you is really country to relieving stress.

A repetitive repackaging of other people’s ideas.

The authors of this book essentially mash together some of the commonly known keys to wellbeing (meditation, gratitude, compassion, etc.) and attempt to take credit by combining them into something called “Life XT”. This book is really just a SparkNotes version of other self-help/mindfulness/philosophy sources, with a somewhat patronizing tone. The narration is fine, despite the mispronunciation of several words and names. If you’re really interested in checking out this book, I would suggest getting a print copy instead so that you can skip over the most repetitive sections.

Can't stay awake...

Monotone reading, maybe the material was just too dull? I can't listen past 2 chapters.
