About this listen

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author comes an unexpected love story of family, secrets, and the most intimate of deceptions.

My estranged twin brother, Julian, was always the wonder boy - and soon-to-be CEO of our ruthless father’s corporation. My mother and me? Left behind. Now, years after tearing our family apart, my father dares to ask me for a favor? Pretend to be Julian while he fights to survive a tragic accident. It can save the company. Nobody will be the wiser. It’ll be our secret.

I can play Dad’s favorite. I’ll do it for Julian. And for my mother, who’ll want for nothing.

But this double life comes with a beauty of a hitch: my very real feelings for Julian’s fiancée, Isobel. Not only am I betraying Julian, I’m deceiving a woman I love. She doesn’t suspect a thing. As lies compound, lines are crossed and loyalties tested, all I can ask myself is...what have I done?

Because sooner or later something’s got to give. There’s no way I’m giving up Isobel. But once the truth is exposed, it might not be my choice at all.

Amazing!!

Let me start off by saying this is my first Rachel Van Dyken book. I cannot believe I waited so long. This story had me hooked from the very beginning. The chemistry between Bridge and Isobel was pure perfection!! All. The. Feels. You won't be disappointed!

Unexpectedly enjoyed

I've never been a fan of any sort of cheating so I wasn't sure if I would like this story however a friend insisted I give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's not really cheating if you don't know you are cheating, right? I mean they were identical twins after all. It was a good read - err "listen". I would only say that it would be nice if the female narrator did ALL the female voices and the male did only the male. Neither of them did well trying to read the other gender. While the male narrator did great with the male parts, listening to him do the female parts was really cringe-worthy.

Overall though, still worth a listen. It was a good story.

Intense and Captivating Story

A unique and captivating story that drew me in from that first page till that stunning ending. I listened intently and couldn’t get enough of this story. I sat on pins and needles waiting and hoping for that HEA. I loved each twist and turn of this intense story. The narration was spot on and made the story that much enjoyable. Both Alexander Cendese and Lucy Rivers were perfect.

It’s been a long time since I picked up a Rachel Van Dyken book and I am so glad I picked this one up. I cannot wait to read Finding Him.

Enjoyable story

The story is interesting in a telenovella kind of way. It tended to drag a bit with the angsty inner dialogue of the lead characters. The premise is not realistic, but that is often the case in romances. I still enjyed it, and I was rooting for the leads to have their happily ever after.

This title was available as a Kindle Unlimited Read and Listen Free, and I chose to listen rather than read.
I've listened to Alexander Cendese before, and I find that he does varying male voices really, really well, but his performance of female voices are jarring in that they sound like caricatures of rather ridiculous women. That was especially jarring in this recording because the female narrator used a calm, sultry voice in her performance of the heroine. I tolerated it because the story was not so serious (like Anna Kerenina, or something) that I couldn't overlook it to find out what happened in the end. I wish male performers would realize that they don't need to alter their voices so much to portray femal characters - listeners really JUST need a gentler, softer differentiation in tone for the female dialogue.
Lucy Rivers delivered wonderful performances of the characters, both female and male.

Covet

Stealing Her (Covet, Book 1) is a new adult contemporary romance. Brimming with angst this poignant listen will leave in ruins. Sweet moments sprinkled throughout the narrative. I absolutely loved this love saga. Character's are compelling and the storyline is intriguing. Told in dual pov with a hea which leads into book two. I'm looking forward to listening to the next audio in this series.

Overall, definitely worth listening.

Narrators Alexander Cendese, Lucy Rivers performance was fine. I didn't find anything wrong with it, but it wasn't my favourite. Their inflections were just not passionate, or give you cravings to listen to.

Narratators ruined a great story

The story was great, however, the narrators ruined the book. It was very hard to push through and listen due to this. Rachel Van Dyken is an amazing author and I love her I only hope these 2 NEVER narrate one of her books again
