About this listen

A new world. A magical sword. A kingdom in peril.

When Yorick moves into his grandfather's house and discovers a magical sword, he opens a portal into a fantasy realm known as Exigen.

Talk about being thrown into the deep end. If he wants to survive, he must battle monsters, level up, and learn to avoid vicious tentacle monsters.

With the fate of the Kingdom in peril, only Yorick and his enchanted sword can save the princess and thwart the forces of evil.

Join the adventure of a lifetime in this new action-packed isekai LitRPG Adventure from Ryan Rimmel, bestselling author of Noobtown.

I knew he wouldn't let me down. The references to noobs (in my top 4 favs) made me feel at home in this story

wasn't disappointed

this book is not well written. story could have been better. Book sounds like it was written by a kid. Not the worst story but not in top 100.

So So

Absolutely love this new series, more Gamelit or Litrpg lite. That is not to detract from it, I actually enjoyed this foray into a new world from the author. Great story, great build up, great pace, and awesome narration.

Wonderful start

This is a good one. I like the character. He's interesting and fun. I like the interplay with the sword and the narration is good too. Excited for more

The story was enjoyable with just the right amount of speed and action. It never felt like there was a rush to get to the next plot point and never felt dragged out. Robb did a great job on the narration. I am excited to get to the next book and hear more about Yorick and Justice’s adventure.

Another Great Book

The story line is as familiar as the title implies and all the right LitRPG buttons are pushed. Main character is not exactly overpowered, but if you believe the Sword is the MC instead of the sidekick then all the pieces fit together.

Funny, light heated romp through the hero trope

I was pretty excited to read something else by the author of noobtown. But this was quite disappointing. Writing is bad. Narration is bad.

Disappointing

This book, once you get a little way into it, reads like a first draft. It is full of language errors, "blades of paper" in a book is one example. In chapter 17 he uses the word "Pauldron" at so often it had me laughing. Stuff like "It nestled in my craw..." When the main character is speaking as a Magic Sword Knight, his language is supposed to be overblown. The problem is sometime the narration is too. Some of the language is really twisted and stilted to the point that I have to assume that it wasn't read by a qualified editor before publication. A few times it there are errors that the author (in my opinion) really should have caught himself before sending it out. A read though with a red pencil by anyone with average skill would have made this a good story. I'm not clear what company published this, but they failed the customer here. If I buy a cake, I don't expect to cut into it and find the inside full of raw dough and eggshells. This book was published prematurely, and I feel cheated.

Premature Publication

This is no Noobtown or Fifth Era. I would have even enjoyed another Sir Crabby.
Get ready to here the Word Justice said way more than it needs to be.
Doubt i will be back for the next one.

Disappointment

The story is weak and full of really immature sexual innuendo. I’m a huge fan of Noobtown, but this is just childish rhetoric with a weak story. Yo, Ryan, you look like an incel, no reason to prove it… stick to Noobtown… this was so, so, so bad… AI could do better. Also, the narrator is subpar and sounds like a 12 year old.

Excessive juvenile sexual innuendo…
