About this listen

Breck was a heavy metal rock star and to some, perhaps, even a rock god. Playing bass since he was 10, he learned to sing and write music under the tutelage of some of the industry's best. His band was one of the loudest and heaviest out there, and they had moved from one hit record to the next with ease. Married to a supermodel and being at the top of the rock star pyramid, life for Breck was everything he'd ever wanted it to be.

Then, one day, while playing a fill-in gig with another band to help out an old friend, something weird happened, and it wasn't just a flashback from all those acid trips he did on the road.

Attacked by people he'd only seen the likes of in movies, he's forced to dive into a shadow to make good his escape. Waking up, he finds himself in a place that seems like it was ripped out of the '60s, and things are almost like home, but not quite.

It's not just the people looking to take advantage of him, after nearly two decades in the biz, Breck's more than used to that. It's not the strange cars, people, or buildings - a life on the road touring the world inured him to that years ago, as well. It's not even some of the strange beings and creatures people are telling him that share the world he now finds himself in.

No, it's far more worse than that.

He's broke.

Nobody knows who he is.

And his bass seems to be developing an attitude.

Great read hope a sequel comes out. Excellent characters, and the MC had brass balls.

A Very interesting story with many turns I didn’t expect. The characters were interesting and complex, I want to know more about them. I love John Van Stry’s writing and this has certainly lived up to his standards. Andrea Parsneau has done another stellar job of narration her work is phenomenal! Great Story and a Great Audiobook!

An Excellent addition to the Veilverse!

considering the rest of the books in the Veilverse series follow the LitRPG route, this book is really more just fantasy, and it's EXCELLENT. I truly enjoyed this book and it WILL make me look up more from this author to see if his other stuff is equally as good

Andrea parsneau equals excellence

okay i love this story. however i don't like the performance that much. it's okay but to my opinion no better than okay.

breck is a rock and roll star with many issues. he ends up in a kind of other dimension. a veil. he has to learn how to survive and how to begin to love.

love the story.

I have listened to a couple veilverse novels and while this was not what I expected, I prefer it to the cultivator drivin storyline. at times the story was a bit erratic and the mc was bipolar, it added to the story more than distracting from it. So if I see another from this author, I will pick it up.

Better than most veilverse

Overall this was definitely a good story though it comes across with a different feeling than this author’s normal stories. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I would definitely read a sequel to this if he decides to write one.

An excellent story but it’s a little bit different.

It is an amazing story that is honestly on par with the other books in this universe. That twist ending was amazing. There were no clues on the first listen and I will be listening to it again to see if I can find any.

5/5 would definitely recommend.

The ending, wow the ending.
