About this listen

I can get any woman I want… and I do.
So why is the one woman who is completely off-limits knocking on my door?
Someone (my meddling brothers) told her I'm the love guru.
And she wants lessons in falling in love.
Just not with me.

Penelope is curvy, sassy, and my brother's fiancée's best friend. Totally forbidden fruit. But when she asks for dating lessons, I'm suddenly fumbling like a rookie.

I thought love was supposed to hit like a linebacker—fast and hard. Instead, it's a slow burn that's got me breaking all my own rules.

Somehow, I've got to tackle this problem without getting sacked by my overprotective brother.

Oh, and there's an anaconda loose in my house. Because clearly what this situation needs is more complications.

This sports romance features a super-supportive cinnamon roll football player who thought he knew it all when it came to love, a plus-size heroine who will school him while finally learning to love herself, and that Bridgertons-meets-American-Football family that'll have you wishing you were a Kingman… or a Kingman's Queen.

BAGGASFM

!!!!!! Ok I’ve been searching for this specific type of representation in spicy/smutty novels and this is the first time (for me) that I’ve found it!!! Ev and Penny are just the cutest, I love a dating coach scenario and how DUH, they’re gonna fall in love!!! I love Willa and Hayes story also being tied in. Thank you, Amy💘

Empowering and Smutty

So uplifting and joyful mixed with attraction and mentally healthy! This book is a bong stand out in the series and in romance over all.

My least favorite

I have loved all the other books but this one fell short. Too much time spent on the fact that the women are overweight. We get it as that’s what the series is about but honestly the authors insecurities were just showing through here. The love story was totally lost on it and too much of Declan and Kelsey.

Great narrators

Just like all the others, this book is quirky, silly, fun. Big messages about self confidence and body positivity. Big girls are loved just as much as small girls. Don’t let societal standards tell you otherwise.

She had me before but now I’m hooked!!

This author had me before, but this one had me rolling and definitely falling in love with this couple. The author definitely puts the positivity to the fluffier ladies and showing body positivity is an amazing thing. But that Mummy quote though…..

Not my favorite

I love this series and the messages about body positivity, but this book was a bit much for me this time. We all have insecurities, some more than others, but I felt like that was the only plot point for Penelope. (Like she was missing character development outside of being insecure) I did like that this story was simultaneous with Hayes & Willa’s storyline so it felt like we got behind the scenes info. Overall, it’s a sweet story and another HEA ending but it was a bit cringy for me this go around. The next one sounds exciting though. The voice actors were great, per usual.

All the feels! ❤️🔥

Love! I listened so fast to this one- sorry it ended. Penelope is smart, fun and just so real. Another Kingman deliciously falls. This one is less animal focused ( but BEST snake 🐍 name ever! ). Amy Award is a treasure and the narration is fantastic!

Steamy Scenes, Kingsman Chaos and So Much Swiftie Charm

The Anaconda Downstairs by Amy Award is the fourth installment in the delightfully chaotic Cocky Kingsman series, and it does not disappoint. This time, we’re reunited with Penelope (Pen), Kelsey Best’s personal assistant, best friend, and now housemate in the Kingsman family’s hilariously close-knit neighborhood. Her neighbor? None other than Everett Kingsman, the second oldest brother—and surprise, he’s been pining for her.

When Kelsey invites Pen to be her plus-one to a major awards show, she nudges her to find a date. Enter Everett, the smoothest and most romantic Kingsman brother, who Pen enlists to teach her how to date. The result? A delicious mix of steamy chemistry, family shenanigans, and a surprising emotional punch that sets this book apart from the rest of the series.

One of my favorite things about this installment is how much Kingsman family time we get (especially the Kingsman Family Christmas). From laugh-out-loud family game nights to chaotic, heartfelt moments, this found family dynamic shines. Plus, it was so fun to see more of Kelsey and Declan again—I absolutely loved their scenes. And let’s not forget the sizzling tension between Pen and Everett. The flirtation is off the charts, and the sneaking-around trope adds both humor and heat to their relationship.

That said, their reason for keeping their relationship a secret felt a little shaky—like, come on, you’re adults! I get Pen’s hesitancy because it involves not only her best friend but also her boss, but the idea that Kelsey and Declan wouldn’t be supportive? Highly unlikely. Still, the sneaking-around phase was entertaining enough to forgive the slightly flimsy premise.

I also loved the subplot tackling online cancel culture. Watching Pen navigate the drama of a toxic influencer trying to take down body-positive creators, including herself and Kelsey, added unexpected depth. Seeing Pen’s found family rally around her when she needed them most was so satisfying, especially since she’s spent the entire series cleaning up chaos for everyone else. This storyline gave Pen even more dimension and showcased her incredible resilience and resourcefulness.

And can we talk about the Super Bowl scenes? As someone who adored The Wiener Across the Way (Kelsey and Declan’s story, which parallels Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance), seeing them all at the Super Bowl in this book was an absolute blast. Swifties, this one’s for you!

Amy Award describes this series as fluff and fun, and that’s exactly what you’ll get here, with just a sprinkle of emotional heft.
