About this listen

At the mercy of an unknown entity, Clyde gets tossed into the anime world. Yes, it exists, we just don't know it. There, he's declared the Stone, the anime main character. One day, he must kill the Viper, or else it's good-bye, Earth.

This is the comedic tale of a young man vs. cliche anime tropes. Yep, there's nothing like random anime girls falling in love with you...over anything, crazy yanderes, or that girl with the absurd charisma. But hey, at least he's able to level up, just like the RPGs.

Will he find the true purpose of this cruel game, or will the anime tropes consume him?

A lover of character development...

Warning: This audiobook contains sexual content, scenes, and sexual humor fit for anime fans (and ramps up a lot after chapter seven). You have been warned.

Alvin Atwater has started a new type of book that any anime lover would enjoy. As the name implies the book follows the tropes of anime while starting a story that becomes more fleshed out every book. This is the start of the series and possibly is Alvins first book. It does show in some of his writing, however as someone who is passed book 13. I can say the not only does the story just get better, his capability with writing improves steadily every book. This is a good read though not a family book, I believe most can enjoy this story.

The start of something new!

this book had a lot of funny, and raunchy moments in it, and of course a lot of anime tropes.

fun stuff

Certainly one of a kind LitRPG and the Narrator did great giving life to it.

Unique and Hilarious

By 2/3 through the story everyone ends up being raped by boy and girl monsters. If you liked that tentacle rape stuff this books for you.

Too much monster rape goin on.

the story was pretty good but I felt like a third of the book was reviewing stats

too many stats

I love the subversion of tropes that this whole series does. Funny and interesting the only downside is syr calls it a horn.

Turn anime expectations on there heads

Review icludes up to book 14,

Overall I enjoyed the series, with that said it does have it share of issues. One of the major issues is how much of it is devoted to stats. This would not be an issue however given how short each book is the stats really reduce the actual length of each book. Additionally the secondary character's storylines does take away from the actual MC development. I honestly don't care what the villains are up to. I would rather have that time devoted in developing the MC and the relationships.

Frankly multiple books should not have been standalone but combined. For example there is a book dedicated on the travel between cities or one about saving a restaurant. Honestly I could see there only being 7 books instead of 14. This combined with my reasoning given under spoilers might make me stop the series. Honestly I feel like I'm being ripped off.

Spoilers,

One of my main issues is the lack of focus on growing in strength. How many sword lessons has he had? What about actual combat or martial training? Let's not forget about how long it takes him to read his magical books. That all has nothing on the lack of marriage. After 14 books and even being soulbound to someone he has yet to marry. Even after a cities destruction and almost losing everyone he knows and loves he has yet to become serious on growing. How many times does the system have to tell him that those who he marries will pretty much become godesses? In addition to his own strength growing.

To be honest the lack of progress in the story as well as building his strength and those he loves has me thinking of not continuing the series. After 14 books I feel we should be much further along in the story as well as the relationships.

Series Review,

Be warned: Once you get to the end of book #1, you'll want to ride this baby out all the way to the end of the season (book #20). This was the first audiobook I ever listened to and chose this based on some great reviews. I hate spoilers and because I've finished the first series (thank you Alvin for the continuation of the story past Season 1, btw), it makes it hard to leave a review of book #1 while having knowledge of the rest of the story. So, I'll say this...Alvin Atwater is a talented dude. He had me laughing my a** off in the parking lot of my work. Every spare second I could find, I was jumping back into this world he created to see what Clyde would do next. It's a fun story that doesn't take itself too seriously but descriptive enough to help you imagine what the characters and places look like. Buy this book, complete the series and you will thank me and all the other people who agree: Atwater knows how to tell a story and keep you interested.

This is the book that got me hooked

Ewwww yet haha
Narrator not very good it’s more like henti trope system and the rape is not so thing to joke about and sex senes were funny and not hot they were just gross and funny the narrator did a bad anime girl noises the fact that he was talking about her squirt and wet ecstasy and her riding like a machine and not just one like 20 girls in 5 min short book other sotory great. Maybe hint the sex but don’t describe it to that fact that it’s described like henti and porn that bad

Gross too explicit and kinda funny sex. Plus to much monster rape
