"Action thrillers are a fun genre as they're often page-turners, and The Forgotten Alphabet is definitely that. It's the 17th book in The Blackwell Files series, but it's the first one for me. Steven F. Freeman is such a talented author that he skillfully mentions critical parts of previous novels so the reader new to the series is not left behind. I loved every second of this book; the events are plausible, the flawed characters are all relatable, and the revelation of the mastermind shocked me. The one thing that irritated me was the narrator. Although he has a good voice, he apparently never read the book for content. For example, he consistently mispronounces "causal" (A causes B to happen). He pronounces it as "casual" (informal, without determined effort). In the sentences he is reading, "casual" does not make sense. If he had bothered to read for understanding (not "casually"), he would have asked Dr. Chopra what was meant by the sentence. He may have mispronounced amygdala incorrectly but I'm not certain -- the passage went by too quickly. There are all sorts of people vying to be a narrator for high profile authors. Dana should recognize his privledge and responsibility. But again, he has a good voice so it should not stop you from listening to the book.
