Amazing series

I grew up in SW VA. It was cool to see the setting of this post apocalyptic series set there. Great character development, inspiring prepping, and interesting plots.

Love This Series, BUT....

these are my favorite type of books--dystopian/apocalyptic /prepper--especially in these volatile times. i appreciate having Series books that are lumped together: easier to follow, endless hours of enjoyment. HOWEVER, being on book 9, I have to say, they are incredibly redundant. the first chapter of each book recaps the previous novels and that's super frustrating. While I understand people may be new to the series, this is now book 9--and if they haven't read the first 8 books, perhaps they should, instead of repeating over and over.

Kevin Pierce is one of my favorite narrators (Along.with Bronson Pinchot) Pierces voice is smooth like a well made bourbon, and pairs perfectly with this genre.

Great series, these three books are good but not great

Overall a great series, books 7-9 focus small (Charlie acting out, etc). I recommend the whole series but the story is best in books 1 through 4.

Believable

I binge listened to all 9 books during my long commute home recently, it gave my mind a great escape into a plausible thought provoking possibility. Great story.

The borrowed world continues

This was a great continuation of the first six books! And it introduced the Mad Mick series to read as well!

Very fun story with my favorite performer.

I’ve listened to everything in this series. It’s a great story! The boxed sets are absolutely worth it! There are eleven books in this series so far. Also the Mad Mick series is great and related to this series. I’m on book six right now and just downloaded books 7-9. The Mad Mick is fun! Kevin Pierce is my overall favorite performer. He’s very good at performing all the stories he does. Ever since I’ve discovered him I just search for any of his books. He’s not monotone like so many narrators. He doesn’t go overboard with his performance either like so many others. He keeps the listener engaged!

Nothing to Dislike

I have listened to dozens of post-apocalyptic books, and this is either at the top or darned near it. I love these characters, and thought about them even when not listening to the books. Horton is a relatively new find for me, and I'm going to grab another one as soon as I'm finished writing this review. One thing I appreciated about this story is that, although the central character is a prepper, he's not a super-prepper. This story is realistic in that he has thought of many scenarios and possibilities (yes, more than most), but is still surprised by things he failed to anticipate. That would be the case with many preppers. Just an overall outstanding series.
