About this listen

My plan was perfect. My friend needed a date, and my brother's best friend was single. Problem solved.

Until I saw Jaeger for the first time in years, and sparks flew in the wrong direction.

Jaeger has grown up and bulked up. But that shouldn't matter because I have the perfect life. Really.

Only, my plans are beginning to unravel, and now, visions of Jaeger's hard abs, broad shoulders, and intense green eyes fill my head.

I should hold back in case my friend is interested. Or in case of a million other reasons. But if Jaeger isn't willing to play by the rules, I don't think I can, either.

"Addictive and marvelously refreshing." (Rumpled Sheets Blog)

"Realistic characters and smart writing." (Lauren Layne, USA Today best-selling author)

Fun semi steamy rom com

Cali is about to start a great summer. It's the summer before she is about to embark on her new exciting journey in graduate school at Harvard law school. She has taken a summer job at a casino with her best friend Gen. Though she and her boyfriend of two years will be apart, they know they're going to make it work. Cali has a mission that she's working for. Matching up her single best friend with an amazing guy. Right off the bat she meets a couple potentials. One of which, includes her brothers best friend from high school, Jaeger. He's amazingly good looking, sweet, kind and caring, and was on the way to the Olympics before his injury to which resulted in not only his abrupt leave from the sport but losing his long term girlfriend as well. That means he is fair game. What more could a girl ask for? It's a no brainer, right? That is until he and Cali start to spend more time together. Their friendship quickly escalates leaving Cali in an awkward position. Suddenly things start to fall to pieces. She hasn't heard from Eric much at all, things go south unexpectedly at the casino, and she's second guessing her plans to attend Harvard in the fall. Can Cali pull herself together and get things figured out?
I read this book in audio version. I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was a really fun book. The narrator did a pretty good job and there was some twists in the story line that kept it going. There was even a few steamy moments in the book. All in all it was a pretty good book. I rate this ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

The title is misleading

The title is misleading because their dating is really a non-issue to the brother, who hasn't seen or talked to this "best-friend" since high-school, so hardly a bestie. Also, it's important to note that this is a New Adult book, but almost YA. It was well-written and professionally narrated and I liked some parts of the story, but it dragged on and on and on with pointless scenes. It could have been half the length. Also, the heroine is super immature despite on her way to Harvard Law School and in the beginning, she comes off very arrogant thinking her roommate will be happy if only she had the right guy. The hero though is another story, he was great, mature and such a caretaker. I stopped it at 3hrs left

Good chic lit, but

Then there were a few twists the last 2 hours that seemed.. to not fit, and weren’t needed.
Same for the sex scenes, hours of chic lit, then the last 2 hours have a few sex scenes? They seemed not needed and didn’t fit with how the rest was written, could have done the skim over version...
Otherwise it’d have been 4 stars..

Enjoyable for what it is

This was a perfectly fine romance read. I really enjoyed the narration and felt the story moved along fine (I listed at 1.5x). What took the story from 4 stars to 3 stars for me was the actual story. The male protagonist is fine and the story is has enough angst. Overall, I felt like there were several story elements thrown in just to have either a fake crisis or in a way that was weak. Things happened at work but there was a throwaway resolution. Lots of drama around the “bad guy” but all of a sudden instant resolutionS it was just lots of that happening. Fine read but not great.

It need to be better

I am not criticizing it I love the story but when it comes down to the sexual part make no sense and the main character girl she sounds so needy and annoying I don’t know why but the story plot is not bad but I don’t like how the character is so needy. And the title should change to really that’s not his best friend it should’ve been something else just my Opinion.

🤨🤨🤨🤨

Umm, so first things first… I liked this book. However, this is not your typical "best friend's brother…" story. The book doesn't even touch the subject until a third of the way through the book and by then we're not even thinking about it really because there's time and distance between the friends. The author does seem to leave a lot of obvious clues in the book, leaving nothing to the imagination. I pretty much knew what was going on with everyone before it was explained fully just by the details the author gave about feelings, locations, actions. There was nothing that was really a surprise. I did like the two main characters, Cali and Jaeger. Cali is smart, independent and strong. Working over the summer at a casino with her BFF to pay for law school. Her BFF is real shifty and dodgy, keeping secrets so right off the bat, she's not my jam. Not sure if I'll read her story, which is the next book. Anyway, Jaeger is a former skier or something about to head to the Olympics before an injury but now makes art out of wood. Cool. The chemistry between them is magnetic but they don't act on it because of this reason or that. It's a really slow burn. Especially since the story starts off with her having a boyfriend. There's a lot of drama in the meantime from both ends and let me tell you, Cali was not the only person frustrated. Does no one in this world know how to communicate? And, I'm sorry but the phone call from her "boyfriend" towards the end of the book seemed out of the blue and completely unnecessary. I'm sitting here thinking… "umm what was the point of that dialogue??? Are we counting words?". There's only really two unresolved issues and I'm assuming the author wants us to continue with the series in order to get a resolution. I'm not so sure if I'm down with that.

Okay, read

This book was interesting but had too much going on with the main character. The story started out in one direction, switched gears in the middle and opened plots that dead ended into know where. Main character walked into situation that didn’t make sense for her “strong” type of character. There were several opportunities to make this a great read. Instead of Okay.

Love it

So glad I found this book! Love the “Off Limits” love story’s. We’ve all had a crush on our Brothers friends 😉 most of us just didn’t get this kind of ending

Good one

Interesting story and characters.. Not bad a story with lots of twists and turns some seen through to resolution others left hanging I'm guessing there is a book two to check out.
