About this listen

The Brass Verdict: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Things are finally looking up for defense attorney Mickey Haller. After two years of wrong turns, Haller is back in the courtroom. When Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent is murdered, Haller inherits his biggest case yet: the defense of Walter Elliott, a prominent studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. But as Haller prepares for the case that could launch him into the big time, he learns that Vincent's killer may be coming for him next.

Enter Harry Bosch. Determined to find Vincent's killer, he is not opposed to using Haller as bait. But as danger mounts and the stakes rise, these two loners realize their only choice is to work together.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Critic reviews

"The Brass Verdict has the sneaky metabolism of any Connelly book. It starts slowly, moves calmly, hides pertinent bits of information in plain sight and then abruptly ratchets up its energy for the denouement....In the midst of this new story, Mickey rebounds with a vengeance....Like Harry Bosch's mojo, Mickey Haller's is liable to work well for a long time." (Janet Maslin, New York Times)

"The answer to every Connelly fan's dream: Hieronymus Bosch meets the Lincoln Lawyer....By turns wary, competitive, complementary, cooperative and mutually predatory....Connelly brings his two sleuths together in a way that honors them both" (Kirkus Reviews)

"A beautifully executed crime thriller... Bosch might have met his match in the wily Haller, and readers will delight in their sparring." (Publishers Weekly)

Bad Background

Story was great. The background music and sound effects were annoying to the point that the overall rating was severely degraded.

Twist & Turns

Mr. Connelly has my attention. I will follow the Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch until I complete both series. I enjoy Peter Giles narration and will attempt to locate his work for other novelists. I highly recommend.

Every minute was good.

Never thought I would be listening to a book about a lawyer. But, it is done very good including the character development, the reading, & of course the story.

Another great

The book seemed to go by fast. Chapter to chapter it flowed well and made you not want to stop. I had been curious when the relationship between Bosch and Micky was going to be exposed. Nicely done.

Connelly’s my favorite storyteller

The story is smart and tight.
I could do without the music. It’s not necessary and it didn’t enhance my listening experience.

love this series

Love this series and the twists, my favorite parts are the actual courtroom scenes. Some of and audio recording skips oddly towards the end but it doesn't cause you to miss anything it just repeats some lines double on one chapter with Cisero and Haller.
Definitely spend the credit great read great twists! about to use another credit on book 3 😎

Oh, Now I get it...

As a Michael Connelly fan I have come to expect an authentic feel, two compelling stories (about the life and personality of Bosch or Haller or McCaleb and about the case they are working), and timeliness as characters progress and age. The Brass Verdict is every good as you would expect, but it starts to raise questions... like Wait, the daughter (who we know is in college) is living with his ex-wife (who we know is dead) and Bosch and Haller meet but don't know their brothers, except we know they are..... Oh. I get it. This is like a back-story. I like it. And I like the hints about relationships to come. #foreshadowing #Old Friends #Backstory # #mystery #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes
