‘If you haven’t read Jane Casey, start immediately’ Marian Keyes, the Sunday Times No.1 Bestseller

*Don’t miss the newest Maeve Kerrigan and Josh Derwent thriller – THE STRANGER IN THE FAMILY – out now!*

A Times best crime book of the year

Suburban bliss

The new neighbours seem just right for Jellicoe Close, a pretty street filled with perfect houses and happy families.

Sinister secrets

But one neat front door hides a ruthless criminal – and the new neighbours aren’t what they seem to be either. DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent are undercover, posing as a couple to investigate a deadly conspiracy.

Murderous deception

As they try to gather the evidence they need, they have no idea of the true threat they face – because someone in Jellicoe Close has murder on their mind…

This is the tenth book in Jane Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan series. I’ve read them all and look forward to each new story. I like the characters (even Josh) and the stories have been great. This one disappointed a bit. The undercover work was, in my opinion, rather boring. I liked the interpersonal relationship between Maeve and Josh. He seemed much less annoying. The finale of that case was excellent, however, and the thriller aspect came into play. It made it all worth it.

Not my favorite; still good

I truly love this series. Always look forward to the next one, this one had a long wait! But it delivered. Ending already has me looking forward to the next one. Not a fan of the narrator though. She makes Mauve feel older than she seems by the writing, and her male character voice misses the mark. The earlier audiobooks in the series were narrated better. But the book itself was really enjoyable!

Obsessed with this series. Great book!

Why did Sarah Coombes not read this? I enjoyed the character development. The mystery was solid. This books shines with the wit and intellect of the author. The only downside is the narrator is very miscast. She brings to mind Miss Marple not Maeve Kerrigan. I have to buy the kindle edition to truly enjoy the story. This story starring the lovely Maeve and the Manly Josh breaks my heart a tiny bit. The plight of society’s most vulnerable adults is wrenching. As a parent of a vulnerable adult it really hits home. I highly recommend Jane Casey. There is no one else like her.

Love Jane bad narrator

We almost had them together didn’t we? Mauve and Josh ❤️ I am definitely looking forward to #11. I would like to request that mauve start with some serious self defense classes because I cannot take another head injury.

We are so close!

I’ve missed these characters. Great police procedural with no shortage of personal drama throughout. Looking forward to the next in series!!

Another great listen

I really enjoy this mystery series and always look forward to the next installment. Narration is good and story moves at a good pace.

Another Enjoyable Maeve mystery

Despite being a fan of all Jane Casey’s MAEVE KERRIGAN books, this is my last one with this narrator, who has absolutely RUINED them. With her grating tone, odd inflection, and lack of variation, Caroline Lennon’s narration makes it very difficult to get drawn into the story, and nearly impossible really know the ‘voice’ of the individual characters. So dissaponting!

Did no one producing these books READ THE REVIEWS OF BOOKS 8 & 9? They say the same as this review; that the stories were great, but the narration was awful. I’ve struggled through books 8 and 9, but this one, #10, is the last with this narrator. I can’t even finish it. PLEASE bring back Sarah Coomes! I mourn the loss of these engrossing stories and wonderful characters.

Great story; terrible narration.
