About this listen

They want him dead, but he won't die.

Venir didn't choose to be the defender of this unforgiving world full of bloodthirsty, magic-wielding underlings set on world domination. The helm of power and his waraxe called Brool chose him. And there's no turning back.

With enemies closing in from all directions, Venir, his thief friend, Melegal, and their companions must battle through an endless cycle of backstabbing royals, bloody skirmishes, and waves of lies and deceit. Or see their home descend into total chaos and devastation.

The Darkslayer series is an epic sword and sorcery adventure set in a world where bored immortals play with the lives of the unsuspecting inhabitants. Fans of R. A. Salvatore's Drizzt Do' Urden, Frizt Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, David Gemmell's Druss the Legend, The Witcher, Raymond E. Feist's Pug the Wizard, or Robert E. Howard's Conan get delighted in the Darkslayer series. Perhaps you will as well.

Good Lord this went on for ever.

I can absolutely blaze through audiobooks with my long work days so I have to have long length books to spend credits on. Basically I've finished 10 hour books in a day and it's like welp now what. Maybe not the best story or narration, actually hard to tell if the story comes off weird due to the narration or the other way around. Like the characters internal voices having a weird like out of breath gremlin thing going on compared to their regular voice. Definitely one of the more unique things I've listened too especially in a genre that has a hard time of uniqueness. I don't know why but I just kind of liked it. It's so much book for a credit and although the background noise is annoying it's not absolutely bash your brains out like some people make it out to be and I'm very perceptive to that sort of thing. It really felt like someone had a character list and a hat with hundreds of small scenes to be picked, oh vaneer is gonna have to give the giant a physical and has half his body broken getting crushed in the jewels for the old turn your head and cough. Georgio swaps minds with a horse and his human body just dukes it while walking down the street. Not in the book but you can see it's not super far fetched for the random hat scenarios the crew goes through. Idk, there's a certain level of crassness I like about it.

Needs to be more focused.

The story has too many plot lines and jumps back and forth to much. The book is called The Darkslayer but he is only a small portion of the content, the deeper you get into the series.

Heart Pounding Awesomeness!

As Samuel Jackson in Jurassic Park put it, "Hold on to your butts", you literally will need to hold on because you will not be able to stop listening- The Dark Slayer Omnibus!

I have listened/read to his books/audiobooks and never once have I been let down to his creativity, innovative thinking, and awesomeness of each character created! You get to feel the anger The Darkslayer has for his bitter enemy, and much more to come! There will be laughter, tears, chuckling, gasping, heart-stopping chapters that will keep you up thinking what will happen next, and then you will say- oh heck, and you continue listening at 2am and realize it is 4:30am when you think it has only been 10 minutes.

I won't go into details, but you will enjoy the work and the narrator.

Well done Craig and Lee, Well Done!

a bit too much jumping between characters but a fun sword and sorcery story. Performance was a little rough. Some problems with accents and pronunciation.
