About this listen

With the demon dactyl and its foul minions defeated, the war-weary citizens of the kingdom of Honce-the-Bear wish only to begin rebuilding their broken lives. Yet the specter of civil war haunts the ravaged land - and a specter more fearsome still. For the demon, though defeated, was not destroyed. And now its vengeful spirit has found an unholy sanctuary.

The elf-trained ranger Elbryan Wynden presses north to reclaim the savage Timberlands from retreating goblin hordes. His companion, Pony, mistress of gemstone magic, turns south to the civilized - but no less perilous - streets of Palmaris. Suddenly they find themselves caught up in a ruthless power struggle to decide the fate of all Corona - a struggle that will push their courage and love to the breaking point...and beyond.

Great story, great voice actor

Tim Gerard Reynolds did a fantastic job narrating this book. Salvatore finished this part of the Saga off with typical skill and fantastic fight scenes. sad to see it end, but thankfully there's another trilogy! Looking forward to moving on.

The best of the bunch

Out of the three books in the Demonwars Trilogy, this is the best. Reynolds gives a spectacular performance and while the plot borders on simplistic due to Salvatore's heavy-handed use of dramatic irony, it's entertaining and the characters generally sparkle and shine. I keep one star to myself only because of the misogynistic (and at times really baffling) portrayals of Pony's pregnancy.

DOESN'T START AT CHAPTER 1 BEWARE

Great book, unfortunately Audible did not place the chapters in the correct order. go to chapter selection and start at Chapter 16 and fast forward about 5 minutes in so the ending isn't ruined for you like it was for me.

Oh a great writer matched by a great narrator.

Book 3 is amazing and sad there isn't another to the trilogy lol These three books had it all and will definitely be listening to them all again soon!

Interesting if not heart breaking

Salvatore continues with a seamless transition from book 2 as our small band of heroes continues to battle a manifestation of the demon who possesses the leader of the church. Elbryan continues to battle the demon and his minions with the help of Pony and his band of dedicated outcasts. The story is very well written with another outstanding performance by Tim Gerard Reynolds but does get a bit tiresome as they continue to flee from the demon and his supporters.

The final battle is climatic and decisive, but difficult and heart rending. One observation is that the author is not hesitant to take chances as he does in this epic story, which has four more books to this saga recently released on Audible.

The overall story continues to evolve as the characters mature and new ones are introduced. Where it goes from here is fairly predictable but probably worth continuing, I think. We will see...

Story taken to higher level

Book 3 clearly the best so far. Few monsters. Political battles. Human struggles. The series was obviously never meant to be a trilogy. Also, the series has never had a strong MC, which is why MC's keep getting replaced. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Ending lacking but still great.

Ending was a little anticlimactic and seemed like a series Ender even though there’s a ton more books. Wasn’t like I said god I have to get the next book to find out what happens.

Angry as hell

You got to be kidding me. The bad guys just keep getting away with everything. I honestly don’t even know what the point of fighting anymore. And the elves are selfish creatures they don’t help for crap. And yet, they still insert themselves to train rangers, hypocrites all of them. I’m about 5 hours from the end and I feel impotent just listening to the heroes just losing. The last book’s ending was already upsetting and now this book.

done with the saga

can't really stay invested in a story when you kill the main protagonist & make the unlikable, backwards developing character the lead. I'll stick to the Dark elf series.
