Publisher's summary

Baron Jim is in the thick of it again. Somehow he's found himself taking on England's oldest enemy - the French - who have entered into an unholy alliance with a most fearsome horror: The mighty serpents of the deep underseas. Nobody has battled them before; nobody even realized they could leave the sea. And with the serpents as their allies it's only a matter of time before the French invasion succeeds - unless Baron Jim can stop them.

a must read

You must read them all they just get better and better. With each story I find my self getting lost in a time and a world that all most makes you forget where you are in your own life. As a grandfather I would as so lime to point out these are suitable to share with all ages. As our youth deserve and foundation to dream upon.

A great story read years ago revisited.

I read this story years ago it was it was great. Enthralling. and (dare I say it?) Magical.

it was magical story telling when I read it.
And it is now. I recommend buying the physical book and reading it.

still enjoyable

These books are funny and enjoyable but kind of repetitive. I feel like the last couple of books started to lose traction for me but this one brought it back up to speed. They're definitely easy, comfy reads and the narrator is a joy to listen to.

I wouldn't pay for it.

Dickson writes with an 8th-grade vocabulary as though looking askance at a lowly 6th-grade audience that barely follows his rhetoric. Paul Boehmer does his level best to deliver the narration accordingly.
The only thing that confuses me is that I listened to the 3 books that come free with my Audible subscription, and know that I would listen to the rest if they were free...
