About this listen

It’s been 20 years since the first manned mission to Mars discovered a human fossil on the Red Planet.

Now, the democracies of the West are buckling under a new crisis emerging from Russia: 10,000 liberated Builders, now fully grown and no longer protected by the UN, are forced to flee. One country is ready to receive the descendants of Xinth: the Special Administrative Region of South Africa, where a lone Builder, Hortat, is running for president. The situation is unprecedented and around the world is giving rise to as much distress as it is hope for a better future for humanity.

Hortat wins but is mysteriously assassinated on election night.

To unravel the mystery, head of the Human Foundation Luther Karlhammer calls in a familiar face: former investigator Pano Hofer. He’s long since walked away from his old life as an investigator, but another name from the past, Agatha Devenworth, lures him out and draws him into a deadly plot.

At the beginning I thought maybe the series was played out, but I loved this book, almost as much as the first one. It was one of those situations where I was sad for it to end as I’ll miss the Builders and A & P. Can’t recommend enough ♥️

Loved it!!!

Had a hard time staying interested enough to finish the book. Kept falling asleep. Not interested in next book in series.

I enjoyed the first two books so much! Was super excited for the 3rd, unfortunately it did not live up to them. Felt sloppy and rushed. The ending saved the booked.

Not as good as the first two

Story just didn’t do it. Combine that with the green man is destroying the earth with CO2 just isn’t my thing.

Not as interesting as prior and too much green end of the world stuff

Loved the first two books. Great world building with interesting characters. However, the third book took 85% of that world and just ignored it. The author also completely changed the characters to something completely different. It was like he had a draft of another book and replaced the names. The “villain” was a protagonist in the first two books. He was mentioned twice and was your basic Bond villain. Lazy writing imho.

Also, politics took center stage with this book. I felt as if I was reading a manifesto and not an adventure / science fiction book. I will often read books by authors that clearly think differently than I do, and that’s just find. However, the author shoehorned his politics into this book to the point that it took away from the story and made no sense.

No spoiler, but the end was just ridiculous. What could have been a great 3 book series ended with a…. What the ……….

A disappointing third installment

Author hates the American way of life. His politics showed through. Disgusting character makeup did not help this story.

book 3 is as bad as I've ever endured.

Horrible book. Not science fiction, just a mystery, a who done it. Hated, hated it.

This was very disappointing. . #2 t ok #3 was awkward and somewhat sloppy. Retelling and looping back was unnecessary and overall seemed lazy and sloppy. As a reader I felt gipped.

Disappointing. Transition from #2 to #3 was very

First 2 were pretty good. Why can they all breathe on earth all of a sudden now? Made no sense. Gave up half way.

Why can they all breathe on earth now!?!?
