About this listen

The final book of the smash-hit Wayward Pines trilogy from the New York Times bestselling author of Dark Matter, Recursion, and Upgrade

What’s inside was a nightmare. What’s outside is a thousand times worse.

Welcome to Wayward Pines, the last town.

Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrived in Wayward Pines, Idaho, three weeks ago. In this town, people are told who to marry, where to live, where to work. No one is allowed to leave; even asking questions can get you killed.

But Ethan has discovered the astonishing secret of what lies beyond the electrified fence that surrounds Wayward Pines and protects it from the terrifying world beyond. And now that secret is about to come storming through the fence to wipe out this last, fragile remnant of humanity.

The Last Town at last pitches Ethan Burke and his fellow residents into all-out war against the forces outside the town’s gates—and in doing so delivers every bit the riotously horrific, breathlessly action-packed conclusion that the Wayward Pines trilogy deserves.

Be nice if it went on to more books. Loved it.

Would love to see what they learn after 70,000 more years. Only the imagination knows. Come on Blake keep it going.

It surprised me!

It was a surprise, not the ending that I was hoping for, I wanted more plot twist towards the end. Knowing that this is the third book of the trilogy I wanted to really be surprised with the end. But I’m aware that coming from reading 📖 “Recursion” and “Dark Matter” that’s probably why I was expecting a more complex plot. But overall 3.5 ⭐️

Great ending to the trilogy

The Last Town is an excellent ending to the Wayward Pines trilogy. While I think it's the weakest of the the three it's still very good.

Nice Non-conclusion Ending

Story was pretty predictable, but still satisfying. It’s always nice when the good guys win.

One of the best series I’ve listened to in a long long time

I’ll read anything this author writes. I’ll cross my fingers that one day includes anything tied to this series.

Great listen!

I loved the series and am sad it’s over. It is over, right? I’m looking forward to listening to more of this author’s work.

Perfect ending but would love more!

I loved this trilogy. It kept me guessing how it would twist and turn. This last book had a little too much gore for my liking but I still loved the series.

Mostly pretty good - definitely entertaining

Its exciting. I cared about some of the characters. The narration is good. The character development is… rough. The main character’s rage is decribed as going “super nova” throughout the series, which just feels silly.

The overall resolution of the series was… not great.

Plot devices that served book one’s purpose are conveniently ignored for the finale.

Not that you won’t have fun hearing about it all, but I hoped there was a stronger direction for tying up such a grandiose trilogy.

There better be a book four on the way!

This trilogy has been an amazing, exhilarating, heart wrenching ride from beginning to end. And the ENDING??! The ending was such a surprise! It made me want MORE!

I really really hope Blake Crouch is working on a book four to this series. Because I can’t live with how it ended, I need know what happens next!!

I will definitely be dreaming (and continuing to have nightmares) about this series and where it leads to next… that is if Mr. Crouch is planning on another one! I really hope he is!!
