About this listen
ONE GEEK STUCK IN A WORLD OF HURT.
My name’s Bill Ryder and, despite being a legendary creature of the night, I’m not having the best of days. My girlfriend is trapped in another dimension, my apartment’s being staked out by werewolves, and to top it all off I’m flat freaking broke.
Too bad there’s no rest for the wicked. Monstrous beasts of biblical proportions have been unleashed upon the world, leaving me with a mighty big question. How the hell is one poor-ass vamp supposed to stop something the size of a battleship?
All hope’s not lost yet, though. With a magic hammer by my side along with friends too stupid to quit, I’ll have to pierce the veil and explore a strange new world to find the answers I seek – one full of danger, mystery, and enemies I was hoping to never see again. Success will mean saving everyone I know, including the love of my life. But if I screw this up, it’ll be far more than just my credit rating that’s left in ruins.
----------
Gamer, geek, and legendary vampire Bill Ryder is back in The Liching Hour. Perfect for fans of Jim Butcher, Hunter Blain, or Orlando Sanchez, this novel delivers nonstop adventure filled with horror and hilarity.
Don’t miss out on this bloody good time! Dive fangs-first into the captivating world of Bill of the Dead today.

My name is Tamara Bentley, "Bent" to my friends, and I'm not supposed to exist. I was born of the forbidden union between a witch and a werewolf, and they've been trying their damnedest to hide my existence ever since. But now my secret is out, and my uncle, the leader of the wolf pack, is pissed beyond belief. In his eyes, I'm something that should've never been born. He wants me dead and doesn't care who he has to sacrifice to get the job done.

Imagine going to bed with mousy brown locks and waking up with a headful of supernova scarlet. It's a hot new look for me - literally, because it bursts into flames whenever I'm threatened. My magical makeover is all Gary's fault. I knew there was something off from the moment he transferred to my school. Go figure. He's a wizard with a trust fund and an inferiority complex. A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Hank is a thug. He knows he's a thug. He has no problem with that realization. In his view the galaxy has given him a gift: a mutation that allows him to withstand great deals of physical trauma. He puts his abilities to the best use possible and that isn't by being a scientist. Besides, the space station Belvaille doesn't need scientists. It is not, generally, a thinking person's locale. It is the remotest habitation in the entire Colmarian Confederation. There is literally no reason to be there.

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

There was a time when I binged all of the Bill books and waited for more. Then Rick started the Hybrid of High Moon series and that took over as my new favorite. This book reminded me of why I fell in love with Dicky G’s writing and now I’m torn on which I want him to write more of faster.

Bill and the gang having world ending adventures once again
I loved traveling back to the world where Bill and his merry band of supernatural misfits live. This is the 4th book in the horror comedy urban fantasy Bill of the Dead series. I love that Bill’s character, despite having unique supernatural powers, is still a sweet, snarky, messy, lucky, kind of dumb, and awkward man who regularly screws up which makes him a very likeable hero. This book picks up where the last one left off. Christy is lost to another dimension, Sally is still the harbinger of the Great One and currently missing, Tom is still in Sheila’s body, Ed is still a special vampire, Tina is still too powerful for her age, and Glenn is still using horrible disguises. The goal is to try to save Christy and stop the Great One. As the story progresses, the team continues to fight evil while trying not to die or bring about the end of the world. Most of the characters from the previous books are in this book and there are also a few new characters who are introduced. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, supernatural creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. I will definitely keep reading the series to see what evil beings and plans are thwarted by Bill and the rest of the crew.
Christopher John Fetherolf once again does a phenomenal job narrating this book. His inflection is spot on and his depth and variety of voices bring added dimension to this already fantastic story.

Great Series Development
The only concept I've grown to dislike in this series is that Bill doesn't improve despite the many threats he overcomes/ targeted by. Waiting for the training montage lol
