Publisher's summary

Clever, cunning and highly skilled - there's only one Bianca St. Ives and don't you dare forget it

Bianca St. Ives was recently put through the wringer, but she came out the same way she always does - the way her father trained her to - hungry for a fight. Still navigating the fallout from a shocking revelation that's left a network of assassins' crosshairs trained on her, Bianca's ready to take fate into her own hands. It's kill or be killed, and she's got her finger flush against the trigger.

But as Bianca races to outmaneuver her tireless pursuers, her father loops her in on a job that might just do the trick: recover King Priam's Treasure, a collection of heavily guarded, priceless artifacts stolen by the Russians during World War II, and return it to Germany. Impossible? Maybe for some, but a high-risk heist is all in a day's work for Bianca St. Ives, especially when there's intel on the line - intel that could finally bring down the shadowy forces seeking to bury Bianca for good. Faced with threats that circle closer with every move she makes, she knows the stakes have never been higher, but when you're already living on borrowed time, you have to hustle if you want to live to see tomorrow.

Looking forward to the conclusion...

Good second story...a sort of female Orphan X, love it and can't wait for the conclusion but would not mind seeing more of her story!

And I thought book 1 ended on a cliff hanger

Smoking shotgun, baby! That was one wild ride. Do not get this unless you’re ready to go right into the final book 3 as soon as you’re done here. This is a pulpy, grab the popcorn good time that reminds me a bit like the recent movie The Protégée with Maggie Q and Michael Keaton, or the old TV series Alias.

Book 1 set up the lady-Jason Bourne meets grifter backdrop for kick@ss Bianca to go from million-dollar heist to on-the-run espionage. With the stage set, books 2 and 3 are really parts 1 and 2 of Bianca dodging kill squads and double crosses amid ever shrinking options.

But this is better than Bourne because there’s a larger cast of supporting characters, including her friends from her cover-life, Iike Doc and Evie, or a lady arms-dealer, or a family of circus artists/thieves, or her not-father grifter… yep, lots more colorful characters, action, and even fun. The cherry on top is the chemistry with Collin Rogan, an adversary who is almost as good at playing the game as she is- almost. I love that this series doesn’t render her a helpless damsel that needs to be saved.

And, can we take a moment to recognize the genius of narrator Whelan? She’s amazing with accents and can do male voices just as well as female. I generally prefer male narrators for action, espionage or thrillers, but Whelan is phenomenal!

Perfect Sequel to the Ultimatum.

Books flowed seamlessly and I found I now am looking forward to the third sequel. Great writing and it's hard not to fall in love with Julia Whelans personality within the character. More please....

I HATE Cliffhangers

This is a really good story but I wish I had waited until the last book (I hope, enough is enough) was available. Now we have to wait until next year and, frankly, it is too long - and pretty arrogant of the author to stick it to her audience that way. I cry foul.

EXCELLENT AUTHOR! EXCEPTIONAL STORY!!!

This is the second book in this series and I've completed it and already into the 3rd and final book. Karen Robards is a new author in my long list of favorites but I can truthfully say that she doesn't disappoint. I hope by the time I get to the end of "The Fifth Doctrine" that I find that there's hope for a future continuation of the series. I have grown to love and hate the characters throughout the story.

Julia Whelan?!?!!! I know I've listened to her before but gezzzz...what a talent she is. I absolutely love her extensive range in her library of voices. However, she could work on her "southern" accent a little. Surely we don't sound THAT bad. ;)

I highly recommend this series. But it's one of those that you MUST read/listen to in order. Otherwise you won't know how some of the characters fit within the plot. So glad I found this author.
