Darn good story botched by narrator!

This book is the proof that not everybody can be a narrator.
Really glad I've read the book in prints in 2011 because pity the pour listener who didn't.
You needed to know who was talking cause they all sounded the same, the male voices were even higher than the females.

Enjoyed this one, too

I really like the different story line that this series takes. There's not only a murder mystery but also a treasure hunt mystery, if you will. It was a fun read.

In the Legacy Trilogy, my favorite

In the Legacy series, I like the Nightingale story more than I actually did the first story. The hero and heroine as characters are robustly written as are some of the other supporting characters. The audio reader did a very good job but for the first time in an audible download there was some recording degregation. I heard background noise that was distracting but, the story and the reading were entertaining. So 5 stars for a regency romance and an audio performance, 1 star for the production team and sound editor.

Great Story Horrible Narrator

I love the story. The narrator completely ruined the listening experience for me. PLEASE RE-RECORD!

Great story but recording terrible

First, the narrator is inconsistent in voicing the characters. There is little differentiation among the female characters. Her male characters are worse. Occasionally, she will provide some characteristics for a particular individual, then stop those, letting that character become indistinguishable from any other. Her male characters often sound more feminine than the females. One gets confused as to who is speaking, thus confusing the listener as to what is going on. Sadly, it’s unlikely it will be re-recorded with a more competent narrator, such as the woman who recorded the first book in the series.

However, an equally irritating thing about this production is the quality of the recording, itself. It sounds like it was recorded in a room with a party, or at least multiple conversations, are going on in another room. This very distracting. And it is easily correctable by running the master through audio software to strip out the unwanted background noise. I may have to return the book and use the Kindle version on my old Kindle with voice. The quality of the narration wouldn’t be any worse!

Entertaining

I love her stories. However, I could have lived without the treasure hunting. Yet, it is only a story, and performed it's purpose of entertaining me well.

The narrator's voice is easy to listen to. If you like her books, you will like this one.

Rough

This was a tough one to get through. The storyline meandered all over the place and it felt like the author was just dragging it out to fill a quota. Running out of plot? Throw in a love scene. Then another one. Oh wait we have an innocent virgin that ties her husband up for sex. Okaaayyyyy I finsihed it only Bc I wanted to see who the killer was.

Catherine Coulter is great

I have never read a Coulter book that I didnt love and this one is just as amazing as the rest. It is amazing how she can write books in the past and present and make them all so very interesting and make you anxious for the next book. This is a lady that has one of the greatest imaginations in the field of romance and suspense she can intertwine both and make history interesting. I am always ready for her next book. I read or listen to them and cant wait for the book to finally end but then find I am dissapointed the book is over this is why I love her books cause when you finish one there is usually a sequal waiting for me to continue with the story. Thanks Catherine for sharing your gift with us. I listen to the books on my 1 hour drive to and from work it is an hour each way and this makes my trip go so quickly that I dont realize how long it takes me to get to work or home from work. And I never have to worry about falling asleep, The story always has me interested enough to stay awake and almost regret when I arrive at my destination, There is not a better way to make a long trip seem short. Thanks to Audible for making these audio books available at the great prices. I am in sales and often tell people that I speak to about the great deals that audible has on audiobooks. I have sent lots of business people to audible especially when they tell me that they travel a lot. Once again thanks to Catherine and Audible for making my trips to and from work so enjoyable. You are great both of you.
