Publisher's summary

Here’s the “old-fashioned” strategy that billionaire Warren Buffett uses to earn 20 percent returns on his stock investments year after year.

Are you looking for a way to confidently invest in stocks without overpaying?

Do you wonder if it’s actually possible to beat the market?

Do you want a proven step-by-step method that takes the guesswork out of making investment decisions?

Everybody knows there’s money to be made in stocks. But the reality is only a fraction of investors actually turn profits.

If you’re a retail investor with no professional experience and you don’t have access to all the “insider knowledge” and resources that institutional investors have, you’re more or less gambling your money away.

According to the latest Gallup polls, 58 percent of American adults own stocks. But ask them what types of investments they own, and the majority of them can’t tell you.

Which means millions of individual investors are pouring millions of dollars into stocks they know nothing about.

No wonder why so many retail investors end up losing money.

Because instead of taking charge of their investments, they let professionals manage their money for them. The same professionals who rarely do better than the market—despite having the technical know-how and experience.

But here’s somegood news: you don’t need to be a pro investor to make money in the stock market.

Even billionaire investors Peter Lynch and Warren Buffett don’t rely on price charts and fancy indicators to make their picks. Instead, they focus on the fundamentals.

And that’s what this book is for. To show you how you can apply the same time-tested methods to your investment decisions.

Cracking the Market Code

I've always been fascinated by the stock market, but it felt like a secret club. Numbers and charts seemed like a different language. This book is like a decoder ring. I used to just guess when to buy or sell, but now I see patterns I never noticed before.

Time tested insights/knowledge

While markets evolve, entrant traders will always exist, and thus the psychology around around TA, short term and long term investing will be static. The author takes a distilled, no-nonsense approach to breaking down these formulas and trends, and helps the listener understand exactly what to look for, and calculate, when charting the price performance of a given asset. Overall an incredibly valuable resource, narrator was also enjoyable to listen to.

Not a light read

This book isn't the easiest book out there, but it is the most thorough that I've read so far. It goes into detail about how to read and understand chart analysis. I did have to go over a few parts more than once, but that's because the author goes into such detail. I had to write a few things down to really absorb them. I like and finally understand the candlestick method and think I can use it to start making a few small investments. The author does recommend only investing what you can afford to lose to begin with and only increasing that as you learn to make money. Well written and will give you the information and confidence to get started.

Breaks down a complex topic well

We've all thought about getting into stocks. I'm sure I was like most people, the first time you see the charts, graphs, and all the numbers, we're out. This book takes the very intimidating and complex topic about analyzing stocks and how to read all of the information and does a really great job of breaking it down so it's easier to comprehend. I learned a lot from this in the first listen, I will definitely be coming back to make sure I understand everything that's covered in this book.
