About this listen

He’s an athlete all about focus, discipline, and achieving goals.

She’s the free-spirited girl next door who won’t be tied down to anything but her emotional support Kindle.

But when the cat distribution system brings these two together, opposites attract.

Life has always been family, football, and school.

Focusing on my goals didn’t leave much room for girls. But I’m not in school anymore. I’m the hottest rookie running back the league has ever seen, and I know how to score a touchdown. I don’t have a clue how to score with a girl.

But I’m going to learn. Because the girl next door with all the thick curves is my new goal. And I’m going to win her heart.

She knows nothing about football, but she does like my tight end.

So does her cat.

Her older brother (by two whole minutes) does not, and he’ll do anything to keep us apart.

The next book in the Cocky Kingmans series will have you swooning and wishing you were a part of the Kingman family all over again.

The Rookie and the Wanderer

4.5 stars/5 stars

Amy Award does it again! I love this entire series. Her approach to romance is a sweet, fluffy, and fun one but takes on some serious issues at the same time. I love how all her FMCs are plus sized with self-love but still show some insecurity at the same time.

This book opens with the rookie brother, Hayes, naked in his backyard holding the cat that belongs to the curvy girl next door. So many innuendos abound during their verbal exchange. Willa is the smart mouthed, world traveling, book nerd that has just arrived home at the request of her guncles for an update on a health journey they have been going on.

Amy Award does an excellent job of describing exactly who each character is and how they show up in their worlds including that Willa has an emotional support Kindle – I think many of us can relate to this. Also, shout out to a book that has a chapter title of Twatwaffles!

As Willa and Hayes do a great job of trying to avoid their attraction to each other, they continue to be in each other’s orbit but to the dismay of Willa’s older brother Zander who is a former college football teammate of Hayes’ that has a monster jealous streak over Hayes’ rookie success.

There are some great family dynamic issues that are addressed in this book including sibling rivalry, parent favoritism, and the feeling of being the family disappointment. And the journey that Hayes goes on trying to be more spontaneous and less rigid is great.

We see a repeat of all the Kingman brothers (and significant others) and love how this family (and found family) are coming together. Keep it up Amy Award – I am here for all 8 brothers and princess Jules’ stories!

As Hayes fights to keep Willa in his life, the words that he spoke to Willa to convince her that they will find their way through the mess were gold! “If the last 24 hours have taught me anything, it is that when I am sure we are lost, you find a way. We will find a way to make this work – we can and will be together.” (SWOON) And then when Hayes pulls out the Wizard of Oz references and lays it all out to his family that there is no giving up on Willa and he compares her to the technicolor in his black and white life, he is not going back to Kansas because Willa is his Oz, and that she is his yellow brick road and that he would be lost without her is extra SWOON-y!

Romantic, steamy, and heart touching

When I first saw the title to this book, I wasn’t too sure about listening to it, but I’m so glad I did as a bigger girl. This book just really hit all the soft spots in your heart. The story is so good an independent woman and an independent man finding their way together, I definitely recommend!

Swoony, romantic and steamy

Another fun and steamy audiobook from Amy Award. “The P*ssy Next Door” is a flirty, romantic and steamy former teammate’s sister romance that was a fun addition to the series.

Willa has always been a free spirit and has been living abroad teaching English to kids. But now she’s back home so her guncles can take a much needed vacation. But one morning, the last person she was expecting was all of Hayes Kingman holding her cat who likes to make himself home in Hayes’ house. Hayes is instantly infatuated with Willa and wants to have more than just a friendship with her. But Hayes’ life is in Colorado and Willa is leaving once her guncles come back home. And there is also one thing, Hayes has never been with a woman so he’s determined to be everything Willa needs.

Willa and Hayes were so much fun to listen to and I loved her story. Willa is so relatable in so many things. I loved her need to be a free spirit and explore the world. She’s also loyal to her guncles and even her family who doesn’t understand her. Her mom is a piece of work but I loved her breaking free of the guilt trips and manipulative ways. Hayes is such a sweetheart and an instant favorite for me. He’s focused on being a top running back and keeping up the Kingston name. But the moment he sees Willa, he’s down bad for her and wants to be a part of her life. And we love a man that researches and puts the woman first in the bedroom. He has the Kingman charm for sure. The steamy scenes were great and showed their chemistry. The ending was so sweet and perfect for them.

Stella Hunter and Blake Lockhart narrated as Willa and Hayes and I loved listening to them. Their narrations were fun, genuine and they were the perfect choice to bring this story to life.

Asking for a friend, where can I find a Hayes in real life? 🫠🫠

This. Man. Knows what he’s doing lmao. Both of their personalities are just top tier. This has been my favorite so far. Each book keeps getting better and better. Amazing series!!

the chemistry between the characters is just so amazing you go through all the emotions with them.

i really loved this book. I love that it's spicy but so cute and romantic. I enjoy dark romance mostly but these books are a nice buffer when I go to dark. being able to enjoy a book like this and activity look for more like it is shocking but this series definitely made me want to start reading more romantic series like this.

Great narrators

This series is so funny and cute. Hayes is the sweetest dirty talker. He loses his v-card to the girl next door.

All. The. Feels.

I thought I loved this book when I read it the first time. I loved it even more when I read it the second time. but the narrators have totally elevated an amazing story to a whole other level. Possibly the best audiobook I’ve ever bought and I can’t wait to listen to it again.
