About this listen

In this extensive lesson, Tenzin Gyatso, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, beautifully elucidates the meaning of the path to enlightenment.

His discourse arises from the Third Dalai Lama's brilliant and powerful work, Essence of Refined Gold, a classic text that summarizes the meaning of all Buddha's teachings. The subject of Essence is the Lam Rim, a term that literally means "stages on the spiritual path."

Through his insightful exploration and interpretation of Essence of Refined Gold, the Dalai Lama speaks directly to the listener, offering spiritual advice, personal reflections, and scriptural commentary. He also describes in practical terms the essential instructions the student must follow to attain enlightenment.

With this program, you can explore the depths of your consciousness and ultimately see the world and yourself in a totally new light. Its direct approach and lucid style make The Path to Enlightenment one of the most accessible introductions to Tibetan Buddhism ever published.

Long live his holiness

Amazing book by His Holiness. I have heard this book a couple of times and each time it awakens more wisdom and clarifies my doubts on my Buddhist path. His Holiness is my greatest teacher. I see the Buddha through him and I am forever grateful. 🙇🏻

This book got me started on the Buddhist Patch

I was a scientist, without a spiritual path and needed something more than science to get me through a divorce when I stumbled across this book in 1995. I have since found a teacher, gone to a number of dharma talks and actually met HH Dalai Lama at UCLA when he gave a 3 day seminar on the Precious Garland

I have picked up the Path to Enlightenment in Audio after my original paperback copy became fairly dog eared after several readings. I’m writing this review as I prepare to listen to The Path to Enlightenment again. It’s now part of my Tantric Buddhist practice. I highly recommend this book for those interested in an Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism which can also be used as a valuable reference later down the road.

The Path to Enlightenment

I was not sure about getting this book. I thought it might be too far above my spiritual plain if you will.
So far I have listened to parts of the book three times, gone through the complete book twice and will probably do it again.
The book was well spoken.
I will say, however, I want to get the book from the library to check the spelling on some words and chants.

Another great book from his holiness.

The lamrim teachings are delivered in a gradual way starting from the small scope, all the wsy to the Great scope. This book does just that, great for beginners and advanced alike.

Choppy

This book reminds me that fire and brimstone is not limited to Christianity; it thrives in Buddhism as well. I really didn't learned anything new from this book, and HH Dalai Lama comes across as rather preachy. This is not his best work.

Narration by Lama Ken McLeod is excellent and the best reason to get this.
